I don't have the time to properly explore the things you are contributing here at the moment - but I wanted to make sure to encourage you to continue to use this site as the location for posting anything related you create - as well as sharing that with anyone you want to have access to these things. If you want, I'll even give you ownership of this room and aide/sysop access of it. I'd like to see more users have personal investment in the success of the various parts of this BBS. You can have the keys to this kingdom if you want - like a Facebook group only one that you have complete latitude over without their restrictions and requirements.

Also, I encourage you to keep uploading. I'm pretty sure you could dump the entire collection of C-64/C-128 and other related Commodore 8 bit libraries onto this drive and barely make a dent in it.

Very cool. Can you make it a room with an upload section so I can do it all there instead of in single message attachments?

Ok. This room is now a directory room, and I've sent you an invite to the others.

I've had a death in my family, I'm the executor for my Uncle so things are crazy. If you want to take a look at any of the 80column C128 adventures I've converted so far, the current set can be found here: drive.google.com/drive/folders/1rUvemGengwN78muJyA2GZ3zHD2gp-0Uc?usp=sharing

About 100 more to come and some sort of nfo files for each game, but not for a while, unfortunately.

Sorry about that. I was wondering where you were. Jerry Moore passed away recently, too.

Whenever you get back, it'll be waiting for you. You've got the keys to this kingdom, now. We're in no hurry at The Sanitarium... things will happen when they happen... or, they won't...

Here is the link to the full set, actually ended up having over 500 new C128 games and 7 Plus4 games that wouldn't fit in C128 memory, but could be packed into the Plus4. Still no file list or nfo files

Uploaded it here. This BBS only has a 5mb pipe, so file transfers are slow, it shows no progress, and you may think it timed out. It didn't. It just takes a while.

Thanks! I've been trying to make the Commodore rounds and make sure that anyone who is interested can partake in these games. I'd love to be able to use this as an entrance to CSDB. I was never in the scene enough to make it on there. You could, BBS sysops can usually get in and while I was technically a Co-Sysop of Bill's board for a month or so, until he figured out I couldn't help him troubleshoot problems on his Tandy 2000, that wasn't enough for them.

So one of the forums I was applying to really must have had some problems with bots getting access. Lots of interaction to gain access and at one point they ask me to send them an email and tell them about my commodore experience. So I did. I told them how I had first gotten a Commodore Plus4 and at the time, getting software for it in the US was impossible, so we traded it in for a Commodore 64, which was wonderful and then. later I was on to the C128 which I took off to school with me. I really thought this was just a formality to make sure I was human and to get registered, but the guy replies and was really apologetic about the fact that the Plus4 didn't work out for me.

Turns out they guy I was bitching to about the Plus 4 was Bil Herd himself. I inadvertently gave the Plus4 and C128 designer a ration of shit about his creation.

...he let me into the forums though, I'm really glad I put in the bit about the C128 or that could have been bad, maybe. :)

LOL. That is an *awesome* story. Beyond that - I think Herd probably understands about the Plus4. I mean, back then, we bought computers based on the marketing specs - right... Like, I bought a Coleco Adam - a computer built off the heart of a popular console with a ready supply of commercially accessible cart based games you could buy ANYWHERE - with two super-fast cassette players that approached disk drive speeds, an included dot matrix printer and 80k of memory, for less than just a C-64 by itself, let alone an Atari, Apple II or PC. It sounded like it couldn't fail. It failed miserably. It *would* have been a major player, I think - if the market didn't crash shortly thereafter - it was JUST starting to get some good titles when everything imploded - so it never got taxed to its limits. The Plus4 was a similar story. Built in software, the coolest looking design at the time, more powerful than a Vic-16, and more affordable than a C-64. It was well placed. It just never got any focus. Honestly - the Amiga and Atari ST also floundered when they should have both been huge.

Let me know about what CSDB is and where to access it, and I'll look into it. I take it this is a Commodore software database, and you would like to get this collection registered?

By the way, this is another reason to get a MiSTer - the Plus 4 core is interesting to play around with - and there are homebrew games now that push the limitations of the hardware - in a "what could have been" way, as well as having access to basically the entire original library stored on one SD card - all cycle accurate.

CSDB is the C64 equivalent of the Hall of Light for Amiga but with a very cliquey C64 Scene focus. The cool thing about them is that pretty much every version of any C64 game, many with upgrades, cheats and additions built in is there. They also cover C128 and a bit of Plus4 here and there.  The software they curate feeds into sites like GameBase 64. https://csdb.dk/

But my hobby time, probably for the next year, is going to be taken over with dealing with my Uncle's estate. I can't see being able to put much time into it until after then. So no worries.

Did you manage to get a copy of the port of Super Mario Bros before the Nintendo takedowns?

Yes, uploaded 3 slightly different versions of it. I also have the old 1989 C64 version of it, that is less true to the original. The cart version is fast but doesn't like some emulator settings, should be fine on your MISTer.
