Subject: In an unexpected turn of events, I now have a 2022 G80 on order at MSRP and got an open allocation
So, I posted the other day that I had tried to order a 2022 M3 without much luck, being told $5K over MSRP with lead times of 12 months. Later, I called another dealership (thanks to u/armandox02) and was told they had an allocation but they were asking $20K over MSRP. Both were obviously hard no's. I had also heard that a third dealership here in Houston was selling at MSRP but there would be at least three people in line in front of me for allocations.
Well, it pays to be both polite and patient. I received a call from a sales manager at BMW of Houston North this afternoon (the second dealership). The conversation went something like this:
"Hello u/bwyer, I understand you weren't interested in purchasing an M3 when we spoke to you yesterday?"
"Nope, not at $20K over list"
"Would you be willing to order an M3 at MSRP?"
"Most likely, yes. What's the lead time?"
"8-12 weeks."
"I'll be there shortly."
So, after a quick credit check and a $2,500 deposit, their existing M3 allocation was (supposedly) given to me and I have the car I've been wanting for about three years on order in 8 to 12 weeks.
