Graduating college soon and getting a big boy job so I’m wanting a new car. BMW has always been a dream of mine and the closest I’ve gotten is my S1000R but I need a car. So I guess my question is do you think it’s worth it to get say an M3 or M4 over a M340i or M440i?
Also any insight on a 2000 or 2001 740i? Looking to sell one of my other motorcycles and get one because I think it’s one of the most beautiful designs of all time.

I currently drive a G37 coupe and was looking at upgrading into a new car this summer. I have always wanted a BMW M car (specifically a M4) but always thought that they were out of my budget, especially at my age.
Stumbled across the M235i at the end of December. I fell in love. It had everything I wanted in a car. However, my plans were to get a car that could make decent power for OCCASIONAL trips to the track, yet still be a good daily driver. I made a post on here about a month or so ago, asking for peoples' opinion on the M235i. The general consensus was that a M240i would much better fit my needs.
I have decided to go for a M240i but I want to learn as much as I can about them. I've done some research on my own but I'm still quite unsure on what a good price range for them would be. I'm honestly not trying to spend anything over $32k. Also, I would prefer the car to be any where under 60-70k miles but I can be a little more flexible on that.
Any tips, information, or general advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

I'm planning to get either one of these cars, but of course, I'm trying to pick. I live in Canada (where snow is no stranger) and they only serve the XDrive models for both M240i and M340i.
I'm leaning more towards M240i because it has that awesome purple color (Thundernight Metallic!) and is a pretty cool coupe—my girlfriend and I cruise together on most occasions. Plus, car insurance is a lot cheaper. However I don't know if this car is right for me unless if anyone can provide feedback for the questions below.
Can the M240i fit a set of tires? (Most important question lol) Comparing to the M340i, how smooth or refined is the ride? How small or tight are the back seats? How loud is the outdoor volume when driving with the windows shut? Don't get me wrong—I love the sound of cars.

Subject: The only bad thing about it was having to wait 3 months for it
Subject: Gap between body panels after service visit, concerning or not?
Hey guys! I'm in a little bit of a predicament at the moment, where I'm trying to decide between a second hand 435i vs 440i ($35k vs $40k AUD) I realise the difference is mainly the N55 vs the B58, but is that all? Is the 440i worth it, especially if I plan on modifying it as well?
Alternatively, I'm also tossing up between the M135i F20N vs the M140i LCI
Thoughts?

Subject: Worth buying a 98k mile ‘16 M-Sport 340i for 20k?
I’ve been driving a 2020 BMW 330i for the past month as my 2017 Audi A4 was t-boned and totaled, and a buddy from my gym has his 2016 m-sport 340i with 98,000 miles for sale. He is running an MHD stage 2 tune, vsfr downpipe, cts cold air intake and ftp aluminum charge pipe with a stage 1dorch fuel pump. He wants 20k for it and I want to know if that’s a good price for it… Has a clean carfax and been maintained every 10,000 miles, 2 owners. I’ve fallen in love with BMWs driving one for the past month, and insurance just sent the check through so I could cover the cost of this car and spare well over five thousand dollars. I need a car for 2 more years, and only drive around 1k miles monthly. Is this worth it?

Subject: Will you still love me, when I’m not young and beautiful
So I’m 19 and thinking of buying my second car and I really would like a BMW. Now I definitely don’t understand absolutely everything in cars but I do know some things, it’s just that this would only be my second car and I don’t have any experience with BMWs except of driving it a few times. I have heard over and over again that BMWs are unreliable and hard to maintain, is that true ? Does that apply to all models or only older ones ? Is getting an older BMW a bad idea ? Old BMW in my opinion look really good but I just don’t know if it’s worth getting an older one if it’s gonna break often. I would maybe even buy an older one but right now I’m looking at a facelift 2.5l 2003 525i //M for 5888€ that looks like it is preserved really well, has new coilovers and has been appraised by an independent specialist 9/10 on the technical side, also the parts for this model are easy to find and aren’t too expensive. But I also like newer BMWs and was looking at some 320 sedans and coupes. One that is currently a favourite is a 2009 Coupe 320 2.0l for 7000€. Maybe you guys could tell me if these cars are worth getting and also maybe suggest on something else to get. I’m looking for a sedan or a coupe, not too big of an engine 2.5 max and the budget is around up to 9000 but if there is a good contender for less that’s even better.

I have to write a 25k check to purchase my car however BMW only accepts cashier checks or money orders. Is there anyway that I can put this on my Amex so I can get the points? I of course would be paying it off immediately just curious if there is an option that I’m not aware of.

![]() | Noticed condensation first day when I got home from the dealership. It goes away after a few hours if you don't drive the car but comes back when you drive the car for 45mins or more. Seem to be very common with crystal headlights (we have a thread on bimmerpost). Took it to service, dealer agreed to replaced them and waiting for parts but my concern is that it happens even after replacement since seem to be widespread. Filed a complaint with BMW NA but haven't heard back. Annoying this happens on a car of this price. It is clearly a design flaw of these crystal headlights. I am not an expert but it seem to be a combination uneven heat from light elements from inside and not optimal venting in the housing causing this. Just wanted to share in case anyone has similar experience or any suggestion on dealing with this [link] [comments] |
This might be a long winded post, but I’ll do my best to keep it readable.
I know this sub might be in favor of the first brand for obvious reasons, but I am looking for a feedback.
I was about to pull the trigger on a 2023 x7, 86k price tag. I owned several BMW, with most of them including i4, x5 etc etc, so definitely I love the way they drive and the options/tech provided.
I stumbled into a Hyundai dealership on my way there and I wanted to check what the hype was on those palisades, especially when people paid 5/10k over MSRP few months ago.
Test drove a 2023 calligraphy and loved it to a point that I pulled the trigger, especially after getting 1k discount and no markups. Other than the power folding mirror and the brand/some of the performance, I don’t seem to find anything major to justify the 30k+ difference. The palisade I got has captain chairs 7 seats configuration, the X7 has the bench option, 7 seats also.
Now I am second guessing the purchase as I feel I am missing something and I’d need your help to see what I am missing.
To add more to the table, the bmw dealership will take the palisade at 500$ less than I paid for trade in, so worst case scenario I won’t loose much considering I am also getting the X7 for 5k below MSRP between incentives and discounts.
If any of you had experiences driving both cars and can provide your 2 cents will be even better, especially if you picked one over the other. Thanks

After having plenty of good times with my 12’ Cayman S, I really needed something new.
- Lightweight
- Mid or rear mounted engine
- Without sunroof.
I know, there aren’t many options with these.
I’ve been searching for a European spec’d Rosso red Alfa Romeo 4c coupe for a year and it seemed to be impossible getting it in here.
Lotus isn’t my thing at all and Alpine A110s is not even available in here.
Then suddenly youtube algorithm brought this car up and I just fell in love with this car.
I’ve never thought I’d ever want an M car though (I don’t mean to be rude but I’ve been always a Porsche enthusiast)
Anyways, meet my very first M car. 13’ E92 M3 Silverstone metallic “63” 😂
Bone stock, full service history, one previous owner, accident/paint free, roughly driven 70K mileage only.
I’m purist and I’ve never wanted to put anything on my cars other than genuine parts. Then this car has changed my whole car life.
Eventuri Plenum and airbox will be installed and I’m currently looking for ZCP style 359 rims. And maybe M performance exhaust too…
Other than that, I’ll keep it as much as stock.
