Subject: How did your perception of BMW change after owning one? If no change, what was your impression of BMW?
Growing up, the 2002 was the only BMW I knew about. I always wanted one, but didn't have the resources. At that time, I felt like it was a car for performance enthusiasts. Ovwr the years, my impression of BMW changed to one of a car for snobs. A car for pretentious elitists.
My first BMW is the 340i purchased used at the beginning of 21 and I was 53. I wasn't even looking at BMW because I thought I couldn't afford the vehicle and the maintenance. At the time, I already put in a deposit and order for the Tesla Model 3. But, after test driving my 340i, I had to have it.
My impression now is that there is more variety of owners than I expected. However, the commonality seems to be that owners believe in performance. The car is affordable when purchased used and you get a lot of value out of it. I freaking love this car and how it drives. I like the feel of the car. I don't see myself going back to another make.
What's your story?
