Subject: Thanks to this sub I helped a stranger take his mind off of a crisis

Just wanted to shout out to you guys. If I didn't lurk in this sub all the time I wouldn't have had the knowledge to reach this guy on a certain level.

For starters I'm a cop and needless to say I usually encounter people on the worst days of their lives several times a shift. This guy was no exception. I won't go into crazy detail but he was dealing with a pretty big crisis and he wasn't from the area where I work.

I noticed a few signs that he was into cars so in order to distract him from the situation I started leaning into that. Come to find out he's a salesperson at a BMW dealership and drives a newer model M series in a rare color that has led most people to think his car is a fake badged M. We were able to chat about that for a bit and he thanked me for helping take his mind off of things for a short time.

So I wanted to pass that back on to you guys here. I may never be able to afford a really flashy BMW but I still get a lot out of your posts and on that day ya'll helped me do my job.
