Pretty cool "Amiga compatible" PC desktop OS.

I owned an Amiga 2000. Today I've got several accelerated A500s and an A600.
I owned a genuine NTSC Amiga 1000. Bought it in 1987 and sold it in 1993. Dual floppy drives, the 256 KB memory expansion pack, a crappy composite monitor, and the Mega-Mighty Swiss Cracking Association virus on most of my disks.
I got an Amiga 2000 in 87. I had a friend who had an A1000. I was very disappointed when Archon for Amiga wouldn't run on Amigas after the A1000.
I think I sold it in 93, and it was still a pretty desirable machine.

So far, Vampire 4 FPGA Standalone is living up to the hype. I'm pretty impressed with how well it works right out of the box. 536 euro is a steep price to pay for it - it will only do Amiga and ST native - but it comes with native emulators for everything from the Atari 2600 to the NeoGeo, and evidently will do 68k Mac emulation too.
And it does have screamin' power. I don't really have a proper place for it right now, it is borrowing space, a keyboard, mouse and LCD from other systems. That has to get fixed before I can really put it through its proper paces. I also have no audio, as my LCD has no audio and it evidently only supports audio out over HDMI - which seems like a bad decision.
Tonight's V4 porn - My MBP, my G4 Quicksilver, and my Vampire V4 FPGA Amiga - running OS 8.1 in Shapeshifter, all talking to one another over Internet.
I feel much more secure in my ability to go forward running classic 68k OS desktops now. In fact, my Quadra 8500 is a PPC running classic OS - but regardless - all my 68k Macs are dead. Battery damage or leaky caps.
And I suspect the Quadra will join them at some point.
So... when that happens, the V4 will become my primary *classic* classic Mac.
