Subject: Nemesis GX-400 Arcade Core Beta available!

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

There is now a core for the Konami game Nemesis in beta that can be downloaded here:

Looks like Salamander is also on the same system so that should be available at some point too.

Can the SDRAM test detect the dual RAM? I have the dual RAM set on the digital io board, but it only shows 3 (the one 128MB RAM).

Subject: Direct video using HDMI to VGA adapter not working

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

I tried to test out direct video on my mister using this adapter with a vga to component plug, https://www.amazon.com/Rankie-HDMI-Adapter-3-5mm-Audio/dp/B00ZMV7RL2, but I don't get any picture. I have direct_video, composite_sync, and ypbpr set to 1, but still nothing. Is there something else I should enable? HDMI still works when I revert back to default settings.

Subject: Digital I/O and ADC?

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Is the ADC not compatible with the Digital I/O board? I have a v1.2 board and an ADC both from mister addons, but every reference I can see to installing the ADC has it on the Analog board. The Digital must have its fan mounting holes shifted a bit from the Analog because the hole in the ADC doesn't line up with the hole on the Digital board. Without securing it to the I/O board, all of the insertion force on the ADC port would be transferred to the pins it's connected to on the DE10. Seems like that can't be correct.

I know I'll probably never use the ADC, but I thought I'd just install the optional parts anyway.

Subject: Is there a list, or way to cross reference which MiSTer arcade cores vertical/horizonta, horizontal refresh rate and how many players/buttons they are?

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

I know there are mame databases to look up arcade core information. I wanted to sort games in my cabinet and prune out vertical games, games that have a horizontal refresh outside my monitor as well as games that have more buttons than I have on my cabinet. Just wanted to check if there was already some list that filtered out mister releases from the 10k+ mame core list before I manually go and look up this information for the couple hundred cores available.

Subject: How to turn off PS3 controller while wired to a MiSTer?

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

I've been really enjoying the PSX core, and the dualshock 3 does the job well. However, a tiny bit annoying is that the controller always turns on the PS3 when I turn off the MiSTer since it also shuts on the PS3. Is there a way I can turn it off while the PS3 controller is wired to the MiSTer?

Subject: FPGA N64 console, Ultrafp64

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

I've read the thread about the possibility of creating a FPGA N64 console. I own a MiSTer and I don't believe that a N64 core would be possible on the current version, which utilizes the DE-10 Nano FPGA board.

Perhaps the MiSTer project will be ported / forked to another inexpensive FPGA board that is more powerful in the future. Hopefully, It will be something that can support a N64, Gamecube, Dreamcast, etc. Will it be called MiSTer II? Who knows? I'm only speculating for fun.

I did a search and stumbled onto this site (http://www.ultrafp64.com/). It's interesting.

Subject: AO486 on 15KHz (Standard Def) CRTs?

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Can anyone tell me what the experience of playing DOS games on a 15KHz CRT is like with the Mister? I don't actually have a Mister setup myself right now, but am considering getting one.

I know that the resolution of DOS games can be varied, but many of them ran at 640x400, and were pretty much actually 320x200 integer scaled 2x. I've had some success in the past with playing these kind of games on a 15KHz CRT with a Raspberry Pi, but it was finicky at best, especially since it wasn't exactly a use case that DosBox was built in mind with.

Subject: RetroArch PC to Sony CRT - Will this work?

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

I wish to play arcade, Genesis, Amiga and PS1 games via RetroArch on my PC to my European Sony Trinitron CRTs with RGB SCART inputs.

My GPU is an Asus TUF NVidia RTX 3070 with HDMI and DP outputs.

Would a Lenovo HDMI to VGA adapter plus a MiSTer VGA to SCART cable work properly or is there a better solution?

Lenovo HDMI to VGA adapter:

https://www.lenovo.com/gb/en/accessories-and-monitors/cables-and-adapters/adapters/ADAPTR-HDMI-to-VGA-monitor-adapter/p/0B47069

VGA to SCART cable:

Many thanks.

Subject: Jumper for v5.5 io board?

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

I've been thinking about getting the Antonio Villena VGA to Composite adaptor, but I saw that it needs a jumper for the vga port on the io board to set to 5v. My v5.5. board doesn't have any jumpers on it and the jumpers on my digital board doesn't fit. What kind of jumpers should I get for my v5.5 io board?
