Subject: Estimated DE10-Nano design lifespan?
I've had my DE10-Nano/MiSTeR setup for about 6 months. I was thinking about getting a second DE10 to have as a spare.
Does anyone have an idea of how long the DE10-Nano will be around? I'm assuming at some point there will be a replacement, or upgraded version. Perhaps something similar to the Raspberry Pi where new boards come out, but features and hardware compatibility are kept with new releases.
Was looking at Amazon a few days ago and they were listed at $185. That's why I asked about the current design. After seeing The Verge article today I jumped on Digi-Key and ordered a spare.
I also have the JROK Multi-Williams and Mylstar FPGA boards. Those designs have been around for 10+ years and are still sold. JROK does increment/improve the designs, but the boards haven't changed much.
So maybe the DE10-Nano will be around another 5+ years?
Subject: How difficult would it be to mod an OG SNES controller and add a programable 2.4G module to it?
Using an original SNES controller, but taking a programmable 2.4GHz (maybe Arduino) board, using that to input from the SNES controller board (instead of going to the cord), and then pairing it with another board, to be used as a receiver. Just asking for a friend who misses the 2.4G 8bitdo SNES controllers.
Subject: What cores could I run with the bare minimum spent on the MiSTer?
So I've been wanting to get into the MiSTer project for awhile, but the biggest obstacle for me is the $135 initial cost just for the DE10-Nano board (gotta love them bills!). My girlfriend wants to me to give her an idea of something useful to get me for my birthday within her budget and this is something I'm considering.
For around $150'ish what cores could I run?. Little things like the power supply, cooling and stuff I can buy on my own or already have. This would be something that I would upgrade over time rather than just all at once, but just curious what I could do with the bare minimum.
I do understand depending on what you want to run and extras you want it can get up to over $300.

Subject: MiSTer physical CD support?
Can I (or has anyone already) connect a MiSTer to a USB CD drive to have it read and run games from the Sega CD? Would I possibly have to make Imgburn read the file to MiSTer or is there some way someone has set this up?
Also while I'm at it, has someone done this with retrode 2 as well?
I like using physical media and I don't feel comfortable downloading roms from the internet after getting a virus from one years back.
Subject: PSA: Nintendo Switch Online SNES controllers now work wired with MiSTer!!!
I just learned this today! The last time I checked almost a year ago, they didn’t work. No one has measured latency for it, but since it’s wired there’s a better bet that it could be a great choice for a wired MiSTer controller. Just played a bit of Turtles in Time and it felt great!

Subject: Capture inputs while in core
I wonder if it's possible to capture the input presses somehow while in core. I know that the input presses are outputted while in menu, but I would like to have them while playing as well. My goal is to capture the input event information on a remote host to eventually show them on an overlay (Open Joystick Display).
Is there a way to achieve this? Thanks!
