My wife refers to my messy little office as The Warren, just becuase she has to pick her way in a complicated trail through piles of boxes and shit to get to me when she wants something.

LOL... that made me realize there are all kinds of amusing things you could refer to your home office as. 

"The Love Shack." 

"The German Dungeon" 

"The Cell in the basement"

"The House of Pain"...

Make it interesting. :D

Facebook is very Apple in their philosophy that they know better than you what you really want, versus what you think you want but will just be annoyed by. 

I like this interface better that crapbook.

There are a few features I wish it had - but it is simple and straight forward and clean. Facebook's new format is the kind of design that is the WORST of Apple. 

The thing is, invite your friends, make a community for yourself here, make your own room. Take ownership of a part of this. Interact with other people here and get to know them. Post. Post a lot. 

The more content we get, the more people who get invited, the more likely this thing is to be successful and offer us an alternative to Facebook. 

But if we don't engage and make this place a destination with interesting things to pass the time - it won't last - and I can't do that all by myself. 

If you use the gateway on port 80 to connect to The Sanitarium/WallofHate webclient - there are easter eggs there, now. :) 

The BBS is running super slow over the public network right now. I'm not sure what the problem is, but it seems to be something at my Public IP provider's end. At the same time, I'm getting issues with video buffering through my regular ISP, even though it is reporting speeds of 200mb/10 on speedtest sites. 

If the problem persists, I'll give their support a call.

Intermittently slow. Now it seems to be responding faster than earlier.

I found some time to explore the other rooms. This web interface is becoming very familiar on my phone. W00T.

Yes! There is a lot going on here - and a lot of opportunity... people just have to learn the interface. It really works well once you get the hang of it, and actually offers some impressive features compared to the social media big boys. 

I put it up intending to just use the Telnet interface as a retro destination for old 8 bit machines - but then I discovered the Web Interface offered a very rich experience, and spend most of my time connected that way, now. 

Glad you're catching on. Hopefully more people will come and do the same.

Performance is much better today.  It was so bad a couple of days ago that I was sure it crashed because of the time it took to goto the next room.

There was some sort of ISP issue a couple of days ago. I was having trouble getting in and getting out. It seems to have cleared up. 

But, I've decided that a Pi 3B+ isn't quite enough horsepower, and picked up basically a NUC. It is an i5 - so it'll be running genuine x64 Linux - and I think that is going to clear up a few other problems that seem Raspbian related. It has 8gb of RAM and I've got an SSD on the way - I think I'm going to run it in a VM. It should be way more robust that what I'm currently running, and quite a bit more responsive. 

Not sure how long it will take me to build it out with Thanksgiving coming up. But The Sanitarium 4.0 is in development.

Well, if it looks good in the Webclient, it is a mess in the Text Client. If it looks good in the Text Client, it is a mess in the Webclient. You can't have it all. 

A little downtime this morning to make a backup of the BBS. 

Well, now I have a tested good backup of the BBS. That makes me feel better if something catastrophic happens. :)
