That is pretty cool. How easy is it to implement? Could this be why I am getting a "It Works" message on the web client?
Sat Jun 19 2021 20:09:43 MST from ASCII ExpressI whipped up a text CAPTCHA. So far I have it running on disboardia.net, and it has kept away the bots on telnet and SSH.
Let me see it, and I'll tell you if I'm of the right pay grade to implement it. :)
Sat Jul 03 2021 00:34:05 MST from ASCII ExpressYou just have to make a little wrapper to act as the login shell. It runs the captcha then runs Citadel if it succeeds. Really easy. I can post the code if interested.

i got rid of bots on port 23 using regexes in Fail2Ban. Fail2Ban already polices Apache2 and Nginx on the same server that runs my citadel.
If the connection doesn't see meaningful citadel exchanges via grep then it bans (drops any packet) from the incoming IP fior 8400 seconds.
It sounds awesome. I should investigate implementing it. I've got some time, now. :)

Congratulations, I hope to stay off for the rest of my life, but if things go as I hope, I doubt that will be possible.

Welcome aboard, Paulie. Pull up a chair, light your blunt and make yourself at home. There are very few rules - none, really - so it can get messy... but... messy can be fun.
What is 2o fOr beeRS and how does one get there?
