Subject: Forced updates on Steam
I never realized there wasn't an option to disable updates entirely. I could understand if they only let you do it on a per-game basis, or hid it in the console, but to omit the option entirely is indefensible.
So anyway, having found this out, now I'm absolutely livid and I need to vent about this somewhere. It seems the Steam community are a bunch of Muppets who can't understand why this is a negative thing, to not be fully in control of something you ostensibly own, and Steam themselves seem to have a hard-on for auto updates, so it's not like they'll add an option to disable them unless the community forces them to. So, there's not much hope for the future there.
So it looks like I'll be spending a lot more time on the high seas from here on out. I'm fed up with having multiple accounts, multiple launchers, forced updates etc. Piracy (or GOG) is the only way to truly own and enjoy a game anymore.
It was the Skyrim update, by the way.

Subject: ive become tumblr’s unofficial “pirate sugar daddy”
(even just saying that much may be enough for some people to know who i am lmao)
A little over a year ago I wanted to make a music video of a show I like. But I couldn’t easily get the video files in good quality without torrenting. So I learned about torrenting and VPNs and did it. I liked it a lot. I kept torrenting more stuff I wanted. Then when I ran out of my own stuff, I started offering to take requests from my tumblr friends + followers.
Now I have a 5 bay NAS server with 20 terabytes of storage hosting a datahoard of 600+ movies, 300+ complete tv series, a huge collection of ebooks audiobooks comics manga etc, and free cracked software that I’ve tested myself to verify safety and usability. I share these files with many hundreds of users via private messaging them the share links. I run a sideblog dedicated to this server, where I’ve taken nearly a thousand (last I checked) requests for new files to be added. Besides just offering direct downloads, I also use Plex and Emby to allow users to stream from my server. Andddd I wrote a comprehensive torrenting guide awhile back that has nearly 100,000 notes now.
I do all of this for free in my spare time purely because I enjoy doing it. And by now I’ve built up quite a reputation as being tumblr’s “sugar daddy” for pirated content LOL
I kinda just wanted to share because I learned everything I know from this subreddit, and I kinda hope I’m making my fellow pirates proud with all of this ☠️🏴☠️
Subject: Teamviewer alternative
I used to use teamviewer to control my own pc's and laptops, and those of my family.
Now Teamviewer says that i'm using it for commercial use?
Is there a similar program where i can control several pc's/laptops from my computer and android phone?
Most remote desktop programs have for the free version limits on how many connections/pc's you can connect.
I need one without limitations and wich is absolutly free or cracked.
Subject: Are there safe mirrors of 1337x(all official mirrors are down)
I've checked all the official mirrors of 1337x ( [assuming this post is up to date](https://www.reddit.com/r/1337x/comments/jt1cez/offical\_1337x\_urls) ), and confirmed that it wasn't working with https://downforeveryoneorjustme.com, are there any safe mirrors that I can use?
Subject: Fitgirl Left 4 Dead 2 Repack Problem
So I reinstalled my left 4 dead 2 the last stand update for the 5th time now. My problem is that whenever I launch the game (run in admin), the game won't load, if I spam open the smartsteamemu.exe, it just says "Only one instance of game can be running at one time.", then when I open it again, it doesn't show anything. I tried to check the task manager if the program is running, but there I saw another problem; the application "left4dead2.exe" shows up in a bit and then immediately exits. It started to happen when my game did not respond after I switched to another desktop (win key+ctrl+d) and my whole computer froze so I had to restart it forcedly. I hope anyone can help me with this. Thanks

Subject: NordVPN-linked company fined $7.5 million for residential proxy scandal
Summarizing this very important but underreported news about one of the largest VPN providers in the world (and I know it's used by many for torrenting):
- NordVPN-connected company Oxylabs is asked to pay $7.5m for employing residential proxy code that is patented by Luminati/Bright Data.
- Oxylabs describes themselves as a solution for “large-scale public data gathering” and brags that they have “100M+ residential proxy”
- Competing residential proxy seller Luminati/Bright Data also owns Hola VPN. Hola utilizes its users' IP addresses as 'exit nodes' for other people's traffic.
- In layman’s terms that means the residential proxy company steals internet users’ bandwidth without their consent, including via a VPN service.
“While the lawsuit names Lithuania-based Teso LT, UAB as a defendant rather than “Tesonet”, this is as a result of a corporate restructuring several years ago. Aside from its link to Oxylabs, Tesonet also advertises itself as a creator and investor of a number of online services, including NordVPN, Hostinger and others.
In an interview with TechRadar Pro, Tom Okman, the co-founder of both Tesonet and Nord Security, answered some questions regarding the relationship between Tesonet, NordVPN, and the plethora of associated online services the companies offer.”
