Subject: My logical rationale for why piracy is always ethical
I know I'm preaching to the choir on this subreddit, but I'm not really looking to debate my view. However, if you see any holes in my logic, please do let me know.
Basically, as much as piracy may on the surface appear as theft, I do not believe this judgment holds up to logical analysis. I wrote the below rationale as it would apply to software, but there is no reason it can't apply to other types of media just as well.
My reasoning rests on the premise that ethics are based solely on how actions impact others; effects on oneself are a matter of personal choice, not ethics. A logical consequence of this principle is that a course of action whose effects on others are identical to that of another course of action, is always equivalent, from an ethical standpoint, to the other. It is logically impossible for one to create a victim where the other does not.
Now, consider the situation where one decides not to use a given copyrighted software product at all, neither buying a license nor pirating the software. While this course of action does not earn the developer any money, there is no question that it at least is ethically sound.
But compare that to piracy. The developer doesn’t earn any money in that case either. So what is the difference between buying and pirating? The answer is that in one situation, the person in question is able to use the software, and in the other, they are not. But this is of no consequence to the developer, as the pirate would most likely be using the software on their own PC, operated and maintained at their own expense, at no cost to the developer. In fact, unless there's something I'm missing, the act of piracy does not have as a consequence any sort of external effect by which the developer (the sole presumed victim) could possibly be affected.
Therefore, the only conclusions compatible with the previously-stated principle are that either 1) everyone is obligated to buy every software product for sale, regardless of whether they have any use for it, or 2) pirating software is ethical. Of those possibilities, there is only one that could possibly be considered reasonable.

I took the logic X app and files from a computer somewhere and put it onto a hard drive, and used it on my personal Mac with ease for years. It updated perfectly up to 10.7.x (I forget the exact update) but just updated my Mac to 12.0.1(i think) last night. Logic wouldn't launch or open, so I reinstalled the version from my hard drive and cannot figure out how I got it to update the first time. Any advice?

Subject: Can my computer that i used for piracy get blocked from using the internet?
I've got a laptop with windows 10 and you already know what i used it for. I can connect to networks but i can't use the wifi. I've tried it on the router (which used to work with the laptop and currently works with all other devices) and my mobile hotspot - neither work. I could go into detail about everything i've tried to make it work, i posted about it in another subreddit if you're interested. Anyways, i'm wondering if my laptop has been disabled from the internet somehow because of nothing in particular. I always use nordvpn, especially when downloading torrents.

Subject: I'm comfortable with pirating despite thinking it is immoral
I occasionally see people justify pirating using a variety of arguments. You probably know them better than I.
I don't go there. I think of myself as taking something for free that I should have paid for in some way. I haven't bought any media afterwards. I haven't donated to my favorite authors etc, despite agreeing that would be an ethical thing to do.
Funny thing is, I pay my taxes, donate to charity, rarely break the law, am a good neighbor and take care of people for a living. I've got money and wouldn't notice if I had given money for the media I consume.
It's one of those internal inconsistencies I live with such as using petrol in a time of climate change. Or having animals die for me so I can have the occasional slab of meat.
That's all folks!

After copying and pasting the "lservc" into the program folder, I am supposed to be able to launch the program. It launches, but it doesn't work and prompts me to contact IBM for a new license. Does anyone know what's wrong here?

Subject: [porn] A forum/website to ask for specific videos
Hello
I tried to subscribe to a website today, but my billing info won't go through since I'm not in the US. My only option is to pirate their content unfortunately.
So, where can I go to ask about specific site rips or videos ? There used to be the MegaPorn forums, but they are long gone.
The content I'm looking for isn't super popular, so I haven't found it on any of the websites I know of (sxprn, hotpornfiles, etc.)
Thanks
