Arch based users can try protonfit i don't know if it works as i was't just smart enough to calibrate it according to my distro.

Download and install Wine, Lutris , and Winetricks according to your distro, after installing wine configure it by

wine --version 

once installed open wine cmd using wine cmd and execute these following commands

Z:\home\foo>echo %temp% C:\users\foo\Temp> --> this is not a command its the output 

Fitrgirl repacks use %temp% while decompressing games without this setup will throw error about permission denied to create file something thanks u/Fehlfarben for his comment

After that use winecfg and change the wine windows version to windows xp as fitgirl setup usually hangs on a certain point due to admin permission using windows xp will hopefully solve it (its mentioned in fitgirl website in troubleshooting section)

here the initials done now comes the actual installation

> cd to the directory in which u downloaded the repack and use wine setup.exe to run the setup

> tick limit installer to use 2gb ram if available

> Installer default folder path will be "C:\Games\NieR - Automata" do not change it, your games will be stored in "/home/<YOUR\_USERNAME>/.wine/drive_c/Games/" you will later need this to trouble shoot ur games

> untick create desktop option to avoid any complications in future

> now installer will ask whether to update and install directx || c++redsit || physx || .NET i would recommend to tick that as it will installs those once game unpacking is done anyway (note sometimes setup is not able to download files and crashes if this happens untick those options and launch the setup again, u can later install those by using winetricks)

> now installer will start unpacking files, fitgirls installation can take more than 7 hours! to install if you have a laptop make sure ur power settings is set to never to sleep/suspend, also if u have a low end laptop/pc i would recommend to set screen timeout to never as if setup gets freezed between installation u won't be stuck on lock screen

Once installation is done you can launch games using lutris (u can change the windows version now once the installation is done as lutris will use wine too to run the games)

> go to add new game

> browse the executable which is usually in /home/<your\_username>/.wine/drive_c/Games/game_name

lutris settings may vary to launch the game sometimes u have to turn on Fsync to be able to launch the game

if ur game throws error of missing .net framework u can install it using winetricks, i would recommend installing 3.5 and latest version as some games use old .NET version to run

Troubleshooting ur game:

most probably any windows tutorial abt trouble shooting game will work in wine for example i used this tutorial for arkham asylum "could not load file directx.direct3d" error

Anyway to transfer it or do it the other way. Ideally we don't want a cracked copy as it'll be on his main comp.

Hi all, my question is specifically in regards to music production software made by developers who are permanently gone, whose plugins are impossible to acquire through legal means. For example, Linplug. Or perhaps even old software that's no longer provided by companies which are still active, like the old Native Instruments piano Kontakt libraries (assuming you legally own Kontakt).

What are your thoughts on the legality and morality of pirating plugins/software like this, when you're willing to pay for it but there is genuinely no way to? From personal use to commercial use. What are your thoughts?

In my mind, if there's genuinely no legal way to acquire, there shouldn't be morality issues (of course, legality is entirely different and I feel like I can safely assume that if word got out, I'd almost definitely get sued). I mean, what am I supposed to do, build a time machine and relive years of my life just to get a plugin? Haha. Anyway, thanks for reading and participating, should you choose to. Much love.

Why do new movies not appear on torrent or other movie streaming sites before its released either on dvd or streaming services? I mean there are tens of thousands of movie theaters around the world who probably have the original movie in their hands. I would imagine at least one employee would leak the movie. But only after they release it on Netflix or other services that the pirated movie sites can get the actual movie itself and not some crappy version that was filmed in the theater with people passing by. I feel like I'm missing a cruical detail about this whole thing. What am I missing?Why can't I find quality versions of new movies right away as they come out?

I use Linux as my daily driver and for some god-awful reason, Amazon Prime Video doesn't support HD streaming on the OS.

Initially, the model to beat piracy was convenient, it's worth the money to buy Spotify because I don't need to search through torrents/sites to find a single song and organize it myself. Now it's so bad that when I had the content freely available I still need to torrent.
