Subject: Sportyfin - For those that want to stream sports with Jellyfin
Hey everyone!
Recently started hoping on the self-hosted wave, and one of the first things I setup was a Jellyfin server. It was quite exciting... downloaded movies, shows, you name it. The only problem I saw was the lack of ability to stream sports, so I created Sportyfin.
Sportyfin is a python3 program capable of scraping streaming sites for m3u8 links, and compiling them into m3u playlists that can be used in Jellyfin (or anything that supports Live TV with m3u). Currently, Sportyfin is able to scrape for games from many leagues (I don't think I can explicitly state the leagues on this forum). I have open source the software so feel free to check it out :) I hope you all enjoy!!
For installation and all, just follow the documentation :)

Subject: had anyone written a revised/updated guerrilla open access manifesto?
i am guessing that aaron swartz's original document is well known here. but in the 13 and a half years since, many things have changed, & there may have been critical responses to what he wrote. wondering if anyone has tried to draft something similar in this context.

Have you ever pirated the hardcopy of a book? What was your experience?

I'll probably try switching to linux mint in the next few days and am wondering Is pirating games possible the same way as on windows or no?

Subject: Auto add firewall rules in Windows to block pirated apps/games from phoning home
So I download pirated software/games of all kinds all the time, and I found this nifty little script that I've had for years that, when you place in a folder and run with admin priviledges, automatically adds firewall rules blocking all inbound and outbound connections for ALL .exe and .dll files in that folder and all subfolders inside it.
And I think everyone else should do this too, so here's the script and a little guide as to how to use it.
Great thing if you want to have a little peace of mind if you're pirating software.
Of course, good scene releases already have the phoning-home feature disabled or removed, but it's always good to have a little more 'security'.
This, of course won't work if you plan on using the online features of your pirated software/game (that is, if your release is so good that it also allows the online features).
I DID NOT write this. I got it from [here](https://sites.google.com/site/mytools4000/home/allow-block-multiple-programs-through-windows-7-firewall).
It was written, as you can see, by Charles de Havilland, and it's a pretty handy little script.
@echo off REM BATCH FILE CREATED BY CHARLES DE HAVILLAND 10/09/2015 REM https://sites.google.com/site/mytools4000/home/allow-block-multiple-programs-through-windows-7-firewall cls net session >nul 2>&1 if %errorLevel% == 0 ( echo. ) else ( GOTO :NOPERM ) SETLOCAL EnableDelayedExpansion for /F "tokens=1,2 delims=#" %%a in ('"prompt #$H#$E# & echo on & for %%b in (1) do rem"') do ( set "DEL=%%a" ) @cd /d "%~dp0" for %%* in (.) do set RULENAME=%%~nx* ECHO|set /p ="- Add " call :ColorText 0a "Block In & Out " ECHO Firewall rules for all *.exe ^& *.dll files ECHO. ECHO|set /p = "- located at '" call :ColorText 0b "%CD%'" ECHO (inc subfolders) ECHO. ECHO|set /p = "- creating " call :ColorText 1b "%RULENAME%" ECHO as the Firewall rule name ? ECHO. ECHO. ECHO. ECHO Press any key to continue or CTRL+C to terminate now ... pause >nul cls Echo. FOR /r %%G in ("*.exe") Do (@echo %%G NETSH advfirewall firewall add rule name="%RULENAME%-%%~nxG" dir=in program="%%G" action="block" enable="yes") FOR /r %%G in ("*.exe") Do (@echo %%G NETSH advfirewall firewall add rule name="%RULENAME%-%%~nxG" dir=out program="%%G" action="block" enable="yes") FOR /r %%G in ("*.dll") Do (@echo %%G NETSH advfirewall firewall add rule name="%RULENAME%-%%~nxG" dir=in program="%%G" action="block" enable="yes") FOR /r %%G in ("*.dll") Do (@echo %%G NETSH advfirewall firewall add rule name="%RULENAME%-%%~nxG" dir=out program="%%G" action="block" enable="yes") Echo. call :ColorText 0a "done" ECHO|set /p =" ... Goodbye" ECHO. ECHO. ECHO Press a key to exit ... pause >nul goto :eof :ColorText echo off <nul set /p ".=%DEL%" > "%~2" findstr /v /a:%1 /R "^$" "%~2" nul del "%~2" > nul 2>&1 goto :eof :Finish Echo. Echo. Echo Batch ended... Goto :END :NOPERM ECHO. ECHO - You must run this file in Administrator mode ECHO. ECHO. ECHO. ECHO|SET /p ="- Press any key to exit ..." Pause >NUL ECHO goodbye ECHO. ECHO. :END
Just copy the above code and make a text file, name it whatever you like, and then save it as a .bat file, and you're done.
Now copy this .bat file into any folder, and run it as administrator, and it'll automatically add rules to block all inbound and outbound connections to and from all .exe and .dll files in that folder and all subfolders inside it.
So you'd copy this in the root install directory of any program that you pirate.
Cheers.

It makes them happy and they will thank you for the sorcery you've taught them. It also increases the number of seeders.

Subject: why are CAKES simpsons 1080p webdl releases in stereo (AAC)?
My understanding is the simpsons release episodes with a dolby digital (AC3) audio track. Going off the scene rules for web release audio https://scenerules.org/t.html?id=2020_WDX_unformatted.nfo 2.3) High Definition releases must use the highest available audio format and quality offered by the source.
However it looks like the most frequent source for 1080p simpsons episodes over the past seasons are from CAKES, and are only in stereo (AAC).
$ mediainfo The Simpsons - S33E01 - The Star of the Backstage - WEBDL-1080p - CAKES.mkv Audio ID : 2 Format : AAC LC SBR Format/Info : Advanced Audio Codec Low Complexity with Spectral Band Replication Commercial name : HE-AAC Format settings : Implicit Codec ID : A_AAC-2 Duration : 21 min 39 s Channel(s) : 2 channels Channel layout : L R
Shouldn't a release with 5.1 be required?
I see other CAKES animated releases with AC3 audio, so I don't think its a group standard:
$ mediainfo Archer (2009) - S12E02 - Lowjacked - WEBDL-720p - CAKES.mkv Audio ID : 2 Format : E-AC-3 Format/Info : Enhanced AC-3 Commercial name : Dolby Digital Plus Codec ID : A_EAC3 Duration : 20 min 33 s Bit rate mode : Constant Bit rate : 256 kb/s Channel(s) : 6 channels Channel layout : L R C LFE Ls Rs
And I see older 720p episodes do have AC3, so I don't think its a source problem:
$ mediainfo The Simpsons - S29E04 - Treehouse of Horror XXVIII - WEBDL-720p - SiGMA.mkv Audio ID : 2 Format : E-AC-3 Format/Info : Enhanced AC-3 Commercial name : Dolby Digital Plus Codec ID : A_EAC3 Duration : 21 min 25 s Bit rate mode : Constant Bit rate : 640 kb/s Channel(s) : 6 channels Channel layout : L R C LFE Ls Rs
Long post short, does anyone have a good understanding why the official 1080p simpsons releases do not contain AC3 audio track?

Subject: how to make dual layer Dolby Vision video to single layer in Mp4 format
I do know that mp4 doesn't support TrueHD but my soundbar also doesn't support it so it's not a problem but I will be able to play DV? Currently I can only play DV on Netflix and Disney Plus and HDR10+ on Prime but whenever I download a movie from torrent or something my TV never shows DV instead it shows HDR10.

Hi reddit, first time posting. I had a thought the other day. If we are able to download videos from youtube with external apps or websites, then would it be possible to download a movie from youtube using those same sources? I dont know much about youtube movies but i suppose there is a separate link for them which you can only access after buying or renting the movie. Then you would go to the app/website paste in the link and start downloading it. Is this something that could work?

Subject: Does anyone who has use iptvcat know how to make there links work on an IPTV Player?
So I recently started making my own m3u playlist with m3u4u. I used iptvcat to get some stream urls and they didn't work on an IPTV player. I tried another IPTV player and they still don't work. I checked the links on VLC and they worked. How can I fix the issue?

Why do people pirate media but don’t steal from other places? Can media piracy ever be stopped, and should it be ? How should media companies approach the issue of piracy ?
