Subject: How to create multiple instances for qBit in Widows?

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

I am currently running qBit 4.3.8, and I want to know how I can create more instances of qBit, I have crossed the limit of 1500 torrents and I already feel it impacting my torrents.

https://i.imgur.com/ScJB1co.png, I have seen this, and this does create more instances but once you close them I don't know how to open them again because this is what the structure looks like https://i.imgur.com/mrTJQ08.png https://i.imgur.com/K31mq7C.png, and there are just these 3 files inside, with no exe files in them to open those new instances from.

Any help is much appreciated.

Subject: .RAR checker for Mac

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Is there a way to check rar files for corruption on Mac before extracting? I’ve been downloading a few DV remuxes and so far 2 out of the 3 I downloaded are corrupted. It extracts about halfway (using TheUnarchiver) and it said corrupted files. Specific parts are corrupted and when I try to download again I get the same error. I know WinRAR does this but I am not the good with CLIs. Thanks!

Subject: How do I pirate Linux games?

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

The way I understand it, there are two ways you can play games on linux. One, playing a Windows game using Proton. Can I replace this windows game with a pirated version of the game and would it work still with proton, if I am using something like Lutris?

The other way is to play games that are natively available on Linux. So these include titles like Terraria, Eurotruck simulator etc. How do I get pirated copies of such games? I can find pirated copies of Windows games on major torrent sites but I cannot find the same for native Linux games?

Subject: Meta: Anti Piracy, Bootlicking and Shills on this sub

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

For a while now this sub has been growing rapidly, and I can't be the only one who's noticed this, but there are an increasing amount of opinions emerging that don't fit in with the spirit of piracy.

We've had dozens of threads asking people to validate their reasons for piracy, and now we're seeing regular comments defending company x over company y or saying you should always pay certain devs over others. Ive also seen people straight up saying you shouldnt pirate because you'll get a virus, or when someone has a problem a voice says "this is why you shouldn't pirate."

While there might be some nuanced conversation around poverty or indie startups collapsing I think we've had them all before and there really isn't anything new being added. I'm not sure whether these voices are angry hail corporate types, fan boys or paid shills. Maybe they're just the same kids that pirated all their music off limewire but then had their parents spend hundreds on the latest iPod to play it.

On the flip side I don't see much of the consumer rights arguments anymore. There was a thread the other day about Denuvo hitting a game and people were saying how they'd rather pirate it that than have that software on their system. Dozens of comments saying there's nothing wrong with Denuvo. That's the least pirate thing I've heard in a while. What happened to the DRM Free ideals that came with the scene? Yes we're going to pirate stuff but if we buy something it should be ours to do what we want with, the paid version being inferior to the pirate version is an absolute joke - I'm looking at you GTA (more than once too).

I just wondered if others were noticing this shift happening in the comments sections? Maybe I'm just getting old and my hair has grown too long as I conflate my ideals with a generation who just want free stuff and if that's so maybe it would be nice to sit around the camp fire together while someone smarter than me tells stories of Mammon and the five headed beast of Denuvo.

Subject: Is there a resource for pocast piracy? Or at least an addon for skipping the ads like sponsorblock

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Hi. Here's what I come from : I was listening to "Dr. Nosleep" last night and it fucking sucked. Three times of ad break with audio level up to shit, selling me, I dunno investment opportunities and toothbrush or something like that, multiple ads a break.

Is there a resource for pirating the premium content or get the ads skipped somehow? Can someone make a sponsoblock esq. Addon for this? I'll contribute my part to mark the ads.

Subject: safe to use plex?

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Hello!

I've been doing a lot of research for making my own media server at home and for when I'm out. I see very different results, from people saying Plex will track metadata and sell it to people and get you "caught", or that it's completely safe and the only safety risk is how you aquire what you watch. Can anyone help?

As the title says. Is there a way to download whole seasons with these programs? I won't download 30 episodes per season individually for 7 seasons. Are there any other programs or can these do it too? I have an active D+ account to work with if it helps.

Subject: How do I screenshot 100 pages of a textbook and merge them into a single pdf for offline reading?

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

I am going somewhere without internet and need a couple of chapters for offline reading. The app has DRM and theres nothing available to crack it.

Ive been messing with ShareX trying to get the scrolling capture working but it doesnt allow you to split the screenshots (because of the low quality from a long image) or merge the pics into a pdf.

Are there any work arounds, different tools or has anyone done this before?

Subject: Some music artists are selling vinyl records, would these be better than CDs?

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

I’m not really into music myself but would it make more sense to rip vinyls instead of CDs because there is a guarantee of no DRM? Why/why not?

I have heard the quality of vinyls is better but I’m not sure how true that is, if you ripped them to FLACs with audacity or something similar would it be better than ripping a CD? If you use a decent vinyl ripper will the quality be around the same? Will it have noticeable noise artifacts? The biggest drawback I can think of would be only having one audio channel.
