Subject: Quick review of 4 debrid services for anyone trying to decide on one

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

spoiler alert: all 4 are great

I've seen lots of questions about debrid here and I was one of them myself with questions. I took a few months to test drive them so I could just wanted to give my 2 cents from my vantage point of how they compare/generally perform. Also to be up front, I have yet to use any of these services for their video streaming offerings, so I have no idea how they perform on Kodi or Plex and the such. I think I will be trying that side very soon though.

LinkSnappy: 30 days/heavy daily use DDL/Torrent____________________________________________________

LinkSnappy is solid. I like their browser extension a lot and I had consistent speeds with them my entire month. I used their torrent leechbox service maybe 10 times for some pretty large torrents (50GB+) and they downloaded at pretty nice speeds per the seeds in the swarm. One of the major differences/cons is that they are 4x more expensive than the other debrid services I've tried. Its not that expensive still for what you get for a month, but yeah its 4 times more. Another great thing I had with Linksnappy that was unique was that they have a support chat and someone answered me within about a minute no matter what time it was that I messaged them with dumb questions. It was impressive not just on a hosting service standard but on customer service standards as a whole. They are great in that department in my time there. Also they had hosts dropping like flies some days and throughout most of the month, Nitroflare and Hitfile were not available. But I now know what debrid services actually do so I understand the motions the premium hosters take as well. Iif Linksnappy is getting shut by hosts daily than I guess that means they have a lot of customers bombarding the hosts, so congrats to them for the busy business!

AllDebrid: 7 day trial and rolled into 30 days/heavy daily use DDL/Torrent___________________________

I guess these guys are somewhat newer on scene I think and they have a clean site and pretty slick branding and tooling. Everything feels great at Alldebrid and works as expected. The 7 day trial requiring just a SMS capable phone is legit, full featured and no shady shit to deal with whatsoever. I believe they cap you at 25GB for the 7 days which is still plenty to test with and feel out the offerings. It was impossible for me not to continue after the trial once I saw the price. 3 euro a month (like 3.50 USD) is chicle under the couch. So worth it its absurd to not use this service if you actively pirate. Plus they offered me 20% off that if I rolled off my trial into a monthly plan. So yeah, cheap. Everything else at Alldebrid was excellent. Speeds were great, torrents downloaded fine, and then I realized that they don't seed them at all after you complete. I felt like I should have known and kinda kicked myself for it. I never hit and run and leech like a buffoon unless some rare case I have no choice or something. Supporter of the ratio I suppose I am. So I slowed down on torrents after realizing I was breaking my own shit moral code. So just be aware of that if its something you care about.

Real-Debrid: 30 days/Heavy daily use DDL/Torrent___________________________________________________

Recommended first by almost everyone, and for a reason. This is quality through and through. And I haven't even scratched the media side of it yet with Kodi or some of the other cool things I've read about people getting set up. The speeds are consistent, the site is stable and informative, and I learned from Real-Debrid that the number of file hosts you support is more gimmick than reality. Real-debrid must have a pretty solid reputation with the hosts they so work with because they have far less issues with them and seem to just work as much as I've been able to test that. I thought I would need to get a debrid with all the filehosts so I could download everything from the sites I'd corralled into my bookmarks. <Quantity over quality speech here>. Now the huge icing on the beauty that is Real-Debrid (correct me if they aren't the only service doing this) is the cached torrents on their infrastructure. I figured this would mostly be targeted toward movies and TV and not the smaller categories in the torrent swarms like Mac software or audio production DAW plugins and VST instruments, etc. But alas! Every torrent I've passed over to them has instantly been ready to grab. I uploaded a pretty obscure 170GB synthesizer software from a small corner of rutracker and it was cached. Just absolutely incredible system they built at Real-Debrid.

Debrid-link: Currently using along with Real-Debrid__________________________________________________

I'd not heard anything about these guys from anywhere and discovered them by searching for "name of random premium host I need access to : debrid" and they popped up. They have an impressive number of hosts, they support torrents, they have browser integration and DL manager software bells and whistles, they seem to support all the streaming to Kodi, XBMC, WebDAV and have an API to use for RSS and all the info you could want (looks like they cache torrents as well now that I browse through the API docs). They offer a speed test to their locations and their CDN for you to exercise. They cost 4 euro or about 4.50 USD a month as well. Of all the hosts they list, they have all worked perfectly. They store a history of all links you've grabbed through them which is nice to have when you need to backtrack a bit. They also offer a trial of sorts, or actually just de-elevated use of their service to anyone that creates an account. You can do 10GB a day in torrents (up to 5GB in size) and they have a few hosts you can convert premium links for but that number is pretty small and really just for trial and little one-off downloads. Still I love the try before you commit offerings and hope that the trend continues. These guys are rockstars on par with Real-Debrid so far and having both of them for ><$8 a month is a powerhouse combo.

That was way more than I wanted to write so if you read through all that, thank you and I hope it helps. Really all 4 of these are nice services, amazing actually. Linksnappy is just no competition for the cost of the other 3 from what I can tell, but its a great service and has chat support :).

Subject: (PC gaming) Is there any substantial difference with OS file systems/registry/etc for games that need to be installed compared to games that are all ready to go once you download them?

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

By that, I mean, the overwhelming majority of indie games that are under like 5GB, are ready to go once downloaded from a source whereas most AAA massive file size games require installation via Codex/Plaza/Skidrow/etc.

What I'm wondering is, aside from creating Desktop shortcuts, start menu folders and things of that sort, is there anything essential that is added to the registry, system or whatever that is essentially a "handshake" for it to open and function (disregarding generic things like Net frameworks, DirectX and plugins that work universal across all games)?

If I download 100 instant games, put them on a external drive and wipe Windows, Windows being wiped, wouldn't have any effect on those games aside from the generic redownloads I talked about before and they would start up no problem.

But if I download and install 100 games that require an installer, then move those games to external drive and wipe windows and reinstall, is there going to be anything linked to the files that are now gone with wiping Windows that would prevent any of those games from running again unless I ran the installer all over again? Even 2 out of the 100?

Thanks for any help.

Subject: Large torrent file selective downloading help

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Hi,

I have a torrent file with many files in it (8,000+files, 180GB total) and I want to be able to selectively download parts of it. I know that you can do that with torrent clients pre-download, but is there a way I can select what I want, then save the .torrent file and then upload it to my client? Reason being that the webservice basically comes to a halt when I try to edit the download list of that torrent because of its size.

Maybe a dedicated software for this exact scenario?

Thanks for any direction :)

I always get pulled into the trap of reading Motley Fool stock articles just for them to never tell me anything but ask for a sub. Idk about pirating articles but is there a place someone posts the articles or something similar?

Subject: How do these crypto scams work?

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

If you have a facebook account, you might have seen one of these scams around:

https://preview.redd.it/780v4ykvxaj81.png?width=793&format=png&auto=webp&s=1a41d3f7c9a0f242328bd0491b077f91274e96e0

Obviously they're scams. It seems like these pages buy unrelated facebook accounts that are old and credible, change the username, then sell their garbage. If you click the link, it's always some version of this website:

https://preview.redd.it/1gjvsz52yaj81.png?width=1889&format=png&auto=webp&s=a9c9d9278ca90833f6f0b8e5d9182e73f7a8df59

Some are more convoluted than others, with the ad linking to a fake news site (e.g., fake clone of The Guardian) linking to a single specific article which advertises their shitcoin

Basically if you make an account with these sites, you can then send crypto to their address (which i assume they generate dynamically) and "after 3 human checks," they'll give you said token.

Obviously, this is very sophisticated and not the average scam. The people behind this have a lot of technical know-how and have even implemented things like spam email checking to maximize their chance of legitimate customers. My question is, how are they maintaining their anonymity while hosting these sites online? I checked, and it seems they are hosting their site with Cloudflare, which is a pretty reputable host? Surely there is some trail that leads to these guys' identity, and they are definitely making a lot of money off of this. How is this falling off the radar, especially considering the traction they are getting on these posts (even if a lot of it is paid for, probably) Any thoughts? I am not experienced in crypto, but from what I understand it is not truly anonymous and your transactions can be linked to your identity, right?

Subject: What should I do if no available version of a 3ds game works on my 3ds?

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

I've been trying to get a certain 3ds game to work on m homebrew 3ds, but due to the magicks of the secondhand market, all hardcopies are wayyy out of my price range. I have since fully cracked my 3ds, and have looked for copies of this game everywhere; archive.org, the 3ds google drive, the r/roms megathread, and hshop. It seems as though every site hosts the same version of the file as it always shows the same error in luma3ds. What should my next move be ?~?

If this is your sort of thing; I have uploaded the crash report to drive;

Hey all! Does anyone know legit software without any malware to generate KeyGens not just for a specific app, but for most of them. Also what sites generate working keys for software? Waiting for your answers. I need a list of all valid Key Generators or login id and password generators cause I am making a compilation of them as I couldn't find any on the sub reddit.

Subject: How can I read the NY Times offline on my mobile devices?

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Just a few years ago, the NY Times app downloaded its articles for offline reading when you enabled a setting. Today, their offline reading capabilities limit you to only articles that you have saved. This is incredibly restrictive and impeding. Even if you pay for a subscription, there seems to be no solution.

Are there any methods by which one can download the NY Times app content for offline reading? Any third-party apps that accomplish this? Any tweaks that can be made to accommodate?

Subject: I just pirated a game via qBittorrent, and whenever I open it it takes me to the games zip file, what do I do?

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

The title doesn't really encompass my entire question so sorry about that. Essentially I've torrented a game and left it seeding for around a day and now I'm finally ready to play it. The thing is, when I click on the torrented file on qBittorrent it takes me to the location of the zip file of the game, so I started unzipping the zip file. So my question is, what is the point of the torrent? If it just takes me to the zip file then why would I torrent it if I can just download the zip file directly? or is there a component to this that I'm missing? And also, if it takes me to the zip file, then can I just delete the file on qBittorrent once I'm done unzipping the zip file since I won't need it anymore? I know there's a lot in this question but this is my first time ever torrenting and I'm hella confused, thanks for any and all help!

Subject: Trying to download an old mobile game apk, wont work

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

I really loved the game Burger Together but a few years ago the game shut down.

I recently saw that there are apks/mods of the app available and tried downloading them but it won't load anything past the title due to an error of loading a page.

I'm thinking its because it was an online semi-multiplayer game, that even old versions cant play on their own? Is it possible to get it working?
