Let me guess. Ever since you saw Hostel, you were itching to visit Bratislava in Slovakia. Then you saw Eurotrip, especially this part https://youtu.be/1mYqY5YELd0, and your itching turned into determination. But you just could not make it happen – not enough funds, too much work, lack of courage, failure to locate the country on the map.

However, the very capable Government of that well-known country (no, Slovenia is further south, look to the north of Hungary) decided to support local tourism and attract some courageous tourists. Preferentially in summer (you saw Eurotrip, didn’t you?). And they decided that if you want to enter Slovakia, you must fill in a rather silly and simple form called eHranica (e-Border). If you are vaccinated, that’s it, just a pinch of bureaucracy; if you’re not and you do not qualify for several exemptions, you must enter 14 days of isolation! How could you turn down an offer like this!

But in a true sleazy corona totalitarian fashion, they also decided to abuse this opportunity to effectively force a group of unvaccinated commuters (those living just across the border in Czechia, Austria or Poland, who work in Slovakia) to get vaccinated. The conditions for these people are rather draconian – unless you are vaccinated, you must in effect get 4 PCR tests per month costing a fortune. No, they won’t cover it for us – we made the mistake of buying a cheaper flat or house in a neighboring country believing in the EU Schengen open borders!

(Oh, the Constitutional Court of Slovakia actually over-ruled the decree imposing this regime, but they just brazenly avoided it by adopting a new decree with minor cosmetic changes)

Please help us defeat the registration obligation and force them to abandon the regime. Please register (via internet) for entry to Slovakia at https://korona.gov.sk/en/ehranica/, get your e-mail confirmation (optional), and then an hour later, you can come to your senses and cancel the trip. But don’t worry, you only have to cancel it in your mind – there is no obligation to let them know about that!

You may, but you do not have to, enter your genuine data because no information is validated, there is no e-mail-based confirmation, no captcha, no nothing. As I said, our current Government is very capable.
