Hi All,
Is anyone aware of any ongoing projects to make a Mister Handheld console? Would this even be feasible? Are there any small FPGA boards that see active core development like the DE10 Nano does for mister? Looking at my Analog Pocket, I would like to see a similar form factor device built open source.
Also are they any plans to port Mister to other smaller Development boards other than DE10nano? I seem to recall several smaller Cyclone V based boards than the de10-nano.

I play MiSTer on my CRTs and love it. But want an easier option for playing vertical arcade cores than struggling to rotate my large telly.
Will buy a monitor with an arm/mount so can easily rotate for Tate games.
I've found a couple possible options on amazon for 32" with Vesa mount. These are <£250 so not the high end, but my budget. But I'm unsure how MiSTer cores would look on these, and response/lag. I'm going to use this purely for MiSTer gaming so don't care how good they are for media but that's all I'm seeing when searching.
Can anyone determine if one is going to be better than the other, or warn me if both are going to be terrible looking or really laggy?
My considerations are;
ViewSonic VX3218-PC-MHD 165hz and 1ms mprt [?] Amazon link https://www.amazon.co.uk/ViewSonic-VX3218-PC-MHD-viewable-DisplayPort-speakers/dp/B08V85DH1R/ Specs from displaydb https://www.displaydb.com/compare/viewsonic-vx3218-pc-mhd
ViewSonic VX3276-2K-MHD-2 75hz and 4ms dmrt Amazon link https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B08Q4KCXG3/ Specs from displaydb https://www.displaydb.com/monitor/viewsonic-vx3276-2k-mhd-2
I would guess at the VX3218-PC-MHD being a better option due to greater Hz and a lower ms value.. but I'd be making assumption and looking for a more expert knowledge/opinion. And given I am not going to be playing moder PC games, those higher refresh may not be a good thing for MiSTer cores?
I want the best experience with a vertical display for playing Bombjack, Commando, and all the amazing shoot em ups.
Appreciate any suggestions or guidance, thanks

Subject: Recommendations for USB controller adapters for Mister?
Hey guys, I have wireless NES, SNES, and Genesis controllers and I'm looking for USB adapters to use them with my Mister. Any recommendations? Normally I'd go with Raphnet, but it looks like they're not shipping to US anytime soon and their shipping costs are ridiculous.

Subject: Who designed/manufactured the MiSTer I/O boards?
Subject: 2 Player Support Implemented and Working for MiSTer FPGA Playstation Core
I ponnied up to the Dev's patreon so I could get access but I can't seem to get it working. I must be missing something obvious but I can't find much in the way of documentation. Any ideas?

Lately I wanted to get into FPGA Designing/Gaming. I found the MiSTer project and really got fascinated. I got a mediocre understanding how a CPU works, but what I don't get is how you guys just copy whole CPU like the i486. As much as I understand it's not open-source, but you copied it. So how do you do that?

Subject: Memory Cards Now Working on the PlayStation Core
Now that PlayStation and Saturn cores are on their way I'm hoping for Sinden support. I've got 2 of the recoil models and they feel fantastic to use. I'm not sure if there's been any word, but the thought of House Of The Dead & Time Crisis has me starry eyed.
There's also the AE Lightgun and Gun4IR. All 3 work on HDTVs and would be fantastic for MiSTer. Fingers crossed!

I've been looking at some case options. Currently have the clear case for my stack, the d10, usb hub and the IO boards.
Was liking the look of the Multisystem, and their case. And thinking could sell cheap my hub and IO boards to part fund this new board and case.
Then started looking at other case options.
Just seen this d3fmod Ironclad project. Which from what I can understand of it, seems really very good. Allowing use of any Mini-ITX case out there with his IO board, as uses a standard plate. Also seems to have advantage of using Megadrive II a/v cable which I have so would be used for the CRT hook up, if I understand correctly.
I guess I'm looking for any thoughts on this, if any of you had the first wave of orders and rate it?
And, if anyone knows of good mini-itx cases based on old consoles/computers, I have seen an amazing looking C64 one only. Would love a Speccy or Megadrive one.
Finally, when just discovering this project, and looking at the d3fmod homepage... There is a very intriguing "COMING SOON" text along with Japanese Megadrive and PlayStation logos. I don't know if that is very new up on the page, having only found it myself today, or if anyone knows more about that? My immediate thought was; "is d3fmod making mini-itx compatible cases in the form of Megadrive and PlayStation for the Ironclad IO board?"
If so, I'm ready to buy it! Having my MiSTer in a Megadrive looking case, with all ports tidy at the back, would be pretty much exactly what I want. Megadrive has always been my favourite console.
I guess I will be checking back on the d3fmods website regularly hoping for an update to the "coming soon" tease...

Subject: Anyone used the Xbox One/Series joypad with the wireless USB dongle - is it compatible?
I use an older X360 Wireless controller with official MS usb dongle with my AndroidTV box .. works great. The latency is really low with the proprietary wireless and the convenience can't be beat.
Was considering getting a newer One/Series joypad with the matching dongle for the MiSTer. I know that this newer one won't work with AndroidTV but how about the MiSTer? It can use bluetooth of course without a dongle but I don't really want to go down that route with the lagginess and general flakiness of bluetooth pads.

Subject: Any downsides to using Direct Video versus Analog Out?
Hi everybody! I'm new to MiSTer and want to be sure I understand correctly what I need to purchase for my setup.
So basically, I want to get a MiSTer that can output both to a modern HDMI monitor and to a consumer CRT. This is a standard feature of the analog IO board. However, I want my setup to be futureproof in case the upcoming PSX and Saturn cores (or something else down the line) end up needing a second SDRAM. This is only possible with the digital IO board. If I want to have analog output with that, it seems I need to use Direct Video.
My question is this. If I get the digital IO board + HDMI to VGA adapter + VGA to SCART cable, I should be able to get an RGB signal out to my PAL CRT set, right? I know that there is some light .ini editing that needs to be done, but aside from that, is using Direct Video really as simple as just having a DAC between MiSTer and tv? And does it work on all available cores?
I'd be really grateful if someone could confirm that there's no catch in just skipping the analog IO and using the digital board for both HDMI and RGB output (or if there's something else I'm overlooking). Excited to join the MiSTer crowd soon :)

My monitor I'm using with MiSTer doesn't have the greatest speakers built in.
Which would be best setup for sound;
Monitor > HDMI > Soundbar Or MiSTer > Optical > Soundbar
I've seen a soundbar which has only optical [along with Aux and Bluetooth]. And I suspect an optical audio connection from MiSTer IO board to soundbar would be best.
But wondering if HDMI would offer better sound quality, via the monitor's second HDMI port?
Just because I heard that HDMI is generally considered better than Optical. But vs direct from MiSTer via Optical, not so sure. And if it is better, I'd rather invest in a soundbar which has HDMI.
Any advise please? Thanks

Subject: I/O Board Seemingly Shuts Off When Booting Certain Cores
Hey guys. Hoping someone can help me here. When booting into certain cores all of the lights on the I/O board (standard not digital) go off and I get no signal to my TV. I have unplugged all unnecessary USB dongles and still have the issue. The only cores that seem to work for console are Genesis and SNES. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I recently received my MiSTer with a 8gb SD Card which is all set up, flashed with the MiSTer software installed and with the cores and such on it.
Though I will need a larger storage solution. Is it recommended just going with a larger capacity SD Card which would replace the 8gb card already set up or should I leave the 8gb card in place and go for a secondary storage solution like an external SSD?
If I did want to just replace the 8gb card that is already set up with a higher capacity SD card, I'm assuming I would need to set up the new SD Card and all that jazz from scratch, like I would not be able to just copy and paste the contents from the old SD Card to the new SD card and be good to go? I would need to go through the SD card set up process like is found here? https://github.com/MiSTer-devel/Mai...ide#mr-fusion-installation-method-recommended
Thanks for any tips, I appreciate it! :)
