Subject: Does the NES Zapper connected via SNAC work for other cores such as SNES and PSX?
How do you set up the dolphin bar on the Mister so it can detect the Wiimote? I have an official wiimote paired with my Bluetooth dongle on my mister and the dolphin bar plugged in. I have tried both mode 1 through 3 and it just won’t connect to my Wiimote. When I press the sync button on the dolphin bar, it’ll flash and I'm able to move the crosshair on screen, but then the sync light stops flashing on the bar after 30 seconds and the Wiimote is disconnected from it.

Subject: Analog YPbPr incorrectly going to RGB full range.
Something that has really been bothering me is that the analog YPbPr output is in full range and I can't seem to limit it. It's a huge issue because old CRTs are based around the limited range and old consoles also display in it. For many classic games, it matters less as there are no values so near to dark that they get grouped in with dark so ultimately we just get a weird color shift that isn't terrible, but on the PSX core I'm routinely seeing large amounts of black crush that isn't in the original hardware.
Is there any way around this? I'm guessing this is going to force me down a whole rabbit whole of using a DAC and direct video but that seems like a schlepp. I just wish I could have the component video in limited range. Or ideally I can switch from a consumer CRT to a PVM or a computer comitor to handle the full range instead but that will invovle me finding one of those items at a reasonable price first.

I keep getting video dropouts and my TV takes a few seconds to adjust to each new resolution.
What settings in the core/ini should I use to fix this?

Also smash TV and total carnage?
These were some of my favorites back at the time. Not sure if they are running on the same hardware but it seems like it.

Help I load up the snes core and set my core setting I.e. snac enabled, scandoublerfx crt 50% and then I save settings. but when I reset the mister the settings revert back to default.
Same goes for auto save and ram backup so I save in dkc then go to the mister menu and backup ram and when I reset and try to load the ram backup the save data is gone

Subject: Audio improvement possibilities for older audio chips?
Just watched a video where they detail modifications made to the NES music player NSFplay to overcome previous audio hardware limitations with some striking results. They mathed up and smoothed out a number of waveforms for the 2A03, VRC6, & VRC7 chips, with plans to tackle the N163 as well. The result is a cleaner audio output across the board and adds more breadth to the NES's soundscape. The experience would be much akin to FLAC > MP3, or AI upscaling an old DVD.
Anyone have the experience to work on a similar solution for MiSTer project cores? It's not something I'm currently equipped to be able to contribute to. This could go way beyond NES and be like the widescreen hacks for video.

Subject: Haven't updated in 2 years. Should I try Update All or just do a clean reinstall?
I set up my MiSTer during lockdown in 2020, but once I had to go back to work in late June of that year, I didn't have a lot of time to use it or keep up with updates. I have some more free time now, and would like to check out the new cores and features. I'm going to make a backup of what's on my SD card to be safe, but after that I'm not sure if it would be easier to run an upgrade script or just start again from scratch. Any advice you guys can give would be greatly appreciated

Subject: Playstation core lines when characters move in tekken and bloody roar.
I am sure this is just a setting that I need to adjust, but don't know which one will clean it up. When the characters move or jump around it almost looks like scanlines only on the characters. Does anyone have advice?

Subject: Is it possible to transfer a save from ePSXe to MiSTer?
I'm using the Mistercade in my candy cab and would like to rebind the coin button to start + button 1. Maybe to service button to start + button 2. Is this possible?

Subject: IOBoard 6.1 from Aliexpress how to switch to 3.3v for fan?
Here are photos of my IOBoard front and back. How do I switch to 3.3v for the noctua fan? Anyone have experience with this board. I'm good at soldering so if I need to solder something that is fine.

![]() | I used to run an old laptop in my Vew/Chewlix cab, using a 3rd party USB adaptor board: This worked well and let me use both sets of controls (arcade sticks, 6 buttons, coin, and both start buttons), but I've had no luck getting the Mister to recognise the 2p buttons, and it registers the 2p stick like it's the 1p stick. Some of the config options I've tried:
Anyone else managed to get this to work, or am I looking at having to buy separate USB boards for each player and rewiring my setup? [link] [comments] |

Subject: How to determine TV refresh rate for display (old TV)
I have a very old Panasonic Plasma I use for my MiSTer. Recently I switched this to use vsync_adjust=2 and in some cores/games it works perfectly but in others it doesn't. For example in the Minimig core I get green horizontal lines and some flickering.
I know you can set the minimum and maximum refresh rate your display supports to prevent this, but how exactly do you determine what that is? My TV is a Panasonic TH-P50G10A (manual).
In the manual I can see...Horizontal scanning frequency 31 - 69 kHzVertical scanning frequency 59 - 86 Hz
Are these the correct values? Which do I use?
I also saw someone show how to set the vsync_adjust on a per core basis which is another option, but since it varies between games, it seems better to set the min and max refresh rate if you can figure it out. Can anyone help me out?
