Subject: Any way to transfer hiscores from Retroarch to MiSTer?
Spent a lot of time playing some Pac-Man and Donkey Kong on retropie before purchasing a MiSTer. I was curious if there was any way to import the hiscores from retropie to MiSTer or are the ways each handles hiscores completely different? Not a need. Just curious if anyone knew if it was possible, and if it is, how to do it?

I plugged my mister into a normal power strip and I hear a small pop followed by smoke coming out of the case. It won’t power up now. This is likely unsalvageable, right? I have been using the standard PSU. Also will subsequent components need to be replaced?

Subject: Do you consider Pokémon caught on MiSTer to be legitimate?
They should go through Pokémon Bank just fine if I transfer them to an actual cartridge but somethings feels off about not playing the game through the original cartridge. Technically the Retron 5 just dumps the ROM and plays it that way but it still feels more authentic than playing on MiSTer. I'd love to hear your thoughts, because I'd really like peace of mind using MiSTer to cut down on wear and tear on my original cartridges. Maybe I'm overthinking...

Just tried running Update All and I it gives me a weird error message and doesn't run it. Anyone experience this before? Here's a screenshot.

Any paddle controller recommendations for Breakout and Arkanoid arcade cores? Preferably something new, USB, and with minimal input lag. Not looking to refurbish a paddle.
Bonus points if you know any other arcade games that originally played on a dial controller.
Thanks.

Subject: Can anyone recommend a capture card for the MiSTer?
I'm looking to buy a capture card to stream my MiSTer on discord. Are there any special considerations to make when purchasing one?

Subject: Hi everyone! - i just did update all on my mister and now i get this error message... any ideas? thanks!
I purchased a BT & WiFi dongle from Amazon, as someone in the comments said it worked with MiSTer, of course it doesn't lol. As WiFi dongles are out of stock at misterfpga.co.uk, can anyone recommend dongles for WiFi and BT that will work, preferably from Amazon UK so I can get them with fast delivery? Thanks!

I've been using 8bitdo's arcade stick that I modded with some sanwa parts, but thought a standard controller would be nice for console games. Received the m30 2.4 ghz controller today, but the one I received has a start button that sticks just a bit. Anyone else notice this with their m30 or is this uncommon?
Also noticed that when I choose a console (snes, genesis, etc) with the new m30, the console menu doesn't automatically pop up. I have to trigger it and it and there's a noticeable delay. With the arcade stick, the console menu pops up on its own after the console selection is made. Curious if anyone experienced something similar with the m30?
Thinking of finding an alternative controller. Any recommendations?

One of the really nice features of playing on console (or emulator) and using the sd2snes / fxpak is that you can establish a link to the console using usb2snes (well, most people use qusb2snes or SNI these days, but same protocol). This connection allows things like trackers that automatically update when playing a randomizer, It allows for autosplitters for speedrun timers. It even allows you to play multiworld randomizers with other people over the network. Look at archipelago.gg if you want to know more about that. It also makes an easy way to load new roms on the console which is nice for people that play a lot of randomizers.
The big feature of usb2snes that makes all of this possible is being able to request a memory read for select addresses. And as long as you aren't reading too many things at once, the latency is only a few frames. I only mention the latency because while it's possible to have some data races due to it, the trackers, splitters, and etc don't seem to have an issue with them in practice.
It's also got some other features like making it possible to patch games, make and load save states and stuff like that, but those are mostly just nice extras. The ability to read memory seems to be the core functionality for interesting things.
Would it be possible to add support for something like this? I don't know much about the MiSTer architecture or anything. I have a strong programming background, but I'm not nearly as knowledgeable when it comes to FPGA and hardware stuff. I think I heard that there is some sort of OS on the MiSTer that can talk to the FPGA. Would it be possible for that OS to read console memory and communicate with my PC over USB or ethernet?

I never been much of an audiophile but will admit after finally getting a decent soundbar and sub setup for my living room tv it made watching it 100x more immersive.
This has me looking at better options for my consolized mister. I originaly built it just using the 3.5mm analog out from the analog io board and really I never once thought to myself "this sound quality sucks" but ive only used it connected to crt pvm speakers or consumer crt speakers except for a short time when I had it connected to my pc speakers and display.
Anyway.... I realize an external audio dac is the way to go and so just ordered a dac and a toslink to mini toslink optical cable. The problem is.... I wanted to order a decent set of speakers but then figured.... Why buy analog speakers and even use the dac... Why not just buy a decent little soundbar and sub connected straight to mister with toslink cable?
Any opinions on this? Im sure this is a dumb question but I never got into audio much since things went digital.
