Subject: Differences between Ironclad and Multisystem?

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Curious what the primary differences are between the Ironclad and Multisystem.

I am also curious which is more future proofed for future cores and updates like 2Player Saturn/PS1 through SNAC.

Thanks in advance.

Subject: Do we have results for input lag on newer 8bitdo controllers?

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

I'm looking for info on the revisions on the newer N30 2.4g and SN30 2.4g. The input lag database references older revisions (links go to outdated Amazon listings). I have an M30 2.4g, which is excellent, but I'd like something more native for SNES, as well as NES/TG16/SMS. I'd like to save money by avoiding dual analog controllers if possible (I know the Dualsense has amazing latency).

Or does the connection of an io board "override" the native ports?

Subject: MiSTer powered off. But still getting power from hdmi - fan is spinning and leds are on.

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

I have a MiSTer with a Digital IO board. When I physically turn it off, it does not fully power down - the fan remains spinning and some LEDs remain on (e.g. ethernet). Apparently, it is still receiving some power from hdmi. I have to physically unplug the hdmi to make the MiSTer fully shut off.

I have the hdmi cable on a hdmi switch to share my monitor between it and my desktop computer. So it appears that the MiSTer is drawing power from the PC even when the MiSTer is powered off and even when the hdmi switch is set to the PC's input.

Is there any way for me to avoid this? Having the MiSTer on a switch to share the monitor with it and the PC is very convenient. But having to physically unplug the hdmi cable is a bit of a pain.

Subject: Placed an order through Terasic yesterday and got my shipment info today. They might still have some in stock.

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

It cost me ~$275 including shipping, which isn't great, but still better than what scalpers are charging.

By the way, the estimated shipping date said 3/31 when I ordered, but I got an email saying that it will ship 3/6.

(Also, I can't help but think that anybody wanting to use these things for their intended academic purposes probably feels the way we did when people were snatching up graphics cards for mining.)

Subject: Loading games from USB drive connected to my ASUS router with SMB enabled

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

I wonder if someone can help me. I plugged in a USB SSD drive in my Asus router and set up SMB in the settings. I'm able to access it from a Mac, and a PC, but I can't seem to get my MiSTer to load games from it. I've tried everything with the script. It seems to find the IP address when I use the server name as indicated by the error message I get, but no luck getting a connection. I get this message: System call failed. the host is down.

For reference, I can access that drive from my PC and Mac, I have no issues accessing a shared folder on my PC from the MiSTer, or accessing the files on the MiSTer's SD card from a PC or Mac.

Any insight on loading games from a drive connected to a router with SMB enabled? Anyone successfully set that up?

Subject: Not getting Green color to bvm using direct video

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

as title says, im attempting to connect a DE-10 nano without an IO board through to a bvm using direct video. Picture looks great but there is no green color coming through at all. The adapter is the Hama one recommended from the MiSTer docs. then vga to 5 bnc cable from Extron, tried two diff cables but same brand. its a female vga connected through a male to male coupler since those the only cables i have at the moment. Please let me know if im missing something in the settings, or mb the coupler setup is the issue, thanks.

Subject: Is there a list of console cores that can also play arcade games?

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

I know some arcade hardware is based on home console hardware, and vice-versa. I know Namco System 11 is based on Playstation and Sega Titan Video is based on Saturn. Where can I find out what runs what?

Subject: Mistercade?

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Can someone explain to me what the use case is for the mistercade and the mistercade remote? From what I gather the mistercade would replace the game board in a jamma arcade machine so you could play any arcade core. Could you also use the console or computer cores on the arcade monitor?

Also what's the mistercade remote? What does that do exactly?

Thanks for any help

Subject: MiSTer messing with HDMI-CEC

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Hi, I have my MiSTer connected through HDMI to my Sony TV (Bravia BX45). Also I have a PS4 connected to the same TV, where I use the remote control to navigate through the PS4, using the HDMI-CEC connection as I understand. I have noticed that, while the MiSTer HDMI is conected to the TV with the power switch off (using the dc splitter + power switch), the HDMI-CEC doesn't work. Does anyone have experienced this?

Subject: Some core input mappings not saving?

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Hey all,

Still fairly new at this and struggling through a handful of things. Number one is that certain cores (neo geo, PSX) seem not to save button mappings at all.

Could this be from swapping controllers sometimes? Or is it something else?

I tried deleting all the files containing the mappings and starting fresh, but thatโ€™s not done anything.
