Subject: Amiga 500+ Rev 8A E632 EMI Filter

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Hello,

I have an Amiga 500+ board with a damaged E632 EMI Filter. I am having trouble sourcing a replacement as it has three legs and I believe it is 100uF. Can anyone suggest somewhere in the UK where I might find a suitable replacement?

Thanks

Subject: Amiga 500 question about Gotek

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Just got my old A500 and hundreds of disks from my parents house and it all works perfectly. Next I'm going to get a Gotek, preferably external as I want to keep the floppy drive. I think I'd need a boot selector switch mod too.

Can I make backups of my old disks from the internal floppy drive to the Gotek? Eg. use Xcopy to make an exact adf copy?

Subject: A1200 keycaps

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Hi guys,

I'm looking for a replacement "Alt" keycap for my A1200, but having some trouble trying to locate one on eBay. There was one seller who I messaged but they pulled their listings soon after I sent them a message to enquire if they had that one.

If anyone has any good leads on where I can find a spare one please let me know!

Edit: I'm based in the UK, sorry forgot to mention that!

Thanks!

Subject: is this frankenstein possible?

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

i have or can get hold of:

an 1200 main board that at least boots to kickstart prompt (missing the underplate)

an a500 keyboard with a bad membrane

so if i get an a1200 membrane

the only necessary part will be a case for the a1200, is this a reasonable thing to attempt?

i could always try to fudge a tower mod for the 1200?

i have all the external parts like psu etc :)

Subject: Damn A1000 Serial/Parallel Ports >_<

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Hope I didn't fry something.

This first morning of "my weekend" I excitedly went to work on my old A1000. With new devices like the Parceiro and hopefully a Rejuvenator clone available, I wanted to make sure it's all still working. Got it all going with a new 2m flat keyboard cable and a profile on the OSSC. Thought I'd try backing up and writing some floppies from my PC using the cables I'd made for my A500 and I'm sure a few of you know exactly where this is going now.

The A1000 uses different serial and parallel ports from the other models (thank you to the author of those pages (Shape?)). I didn't know that and was working by touch to connect the cables, so serial went to parallel and vice-versa. No magic smoke or anything dramatic, but of course could not transfer files/disks with apccomm nor connect to serial TTY with Handshake. Took everything down to try cleaning the ports with contact cleaner and that's when I realized my mistake.

Just a bit of a rant, folks but perhaps there's a small chance it might warn someone not to be as careless as I was. I'm thinking over whether I ought to build a pair of cable adapters, a new pair of cables or just modify the A1000 ports to match all the other models. Hopefully I didn't fry a CIA or something (though I do have a few spares fortunately).

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

I played a game where you would travel quickly around a map of different shaped rooms. I remember playing local multiplayer with a friend. I think there were goals or it could be target the other player. It was quite fast paced. It's very fuzzy in my memory. I thought it had vector in the name, but searches so far didn't match.

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Hi everybody,

sorry for the dumb question but I need your help. I’m looking for a modern PSU replacement for my Amiga 500. Do you have any recommendations for a reliable and good quality one?

Thank you!
