Subject: What do you think are the chances for A500 Maxi?

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

I'm not really excited for A500 Mini. I'd like a full-sized A500 with working keyboard and Workbench,perhaps Wi-Fi support. Am I deluded?

Subject: Making a modernized Amiga out of Raspberry Pi

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

So in my previous post about potential A500 Maxi, some of you gave me this idea (thanks, danby and EatItRawFuzzNutz) to get a Raspberry Pi with an emulator and then put it inside an Amiga case.

So, the main question is: could I, say, fit the Pi and a keyboard adapter in a A600 case with all the wiring and make it work? I'm thinking about A600 because I also have fond memories of it and the size is kinda more space-friendly. If not, then I'd probably go with A500 (preferably Plus). But the thing is, I don't want to spend too much dough on it.

The second question is: how do I make it practical. Like say, can I still get working USB ports and such.

Sorry for n00b questions but I never tinkered with Amiga hardware much and never owned a Pi. I like the idea of having a DIY Amiga Whatever Maxi, but I don't have a lot of money I can flush down the toilet on making and fixing mistakes.

Another one of my cross posts, Worth it though. Looking for the BEST vintage retro case covers for your equipment? LOOK NO FURTHER!!

I have been around the world in search of system covers for my Amigas and my C64's I have found one of the BEST manufacturers, Quick Shipping, Extremely reasonable prices, Perfekt product! The craftsmanship and color schema is second to none. I am getting all of her stuff for all my platforms becasue i find them to be really sharp witrh a perfect color schema. She makes Covers for everything. I MEAN EVERYTHING. C64's Amigas plus4's 128's atari stuff tape drives u name it. This is where its at folks!! U want a NICE cover for a nice price for your Equipment. you get it from Sewready. I have yet to find anything that scrapes the surface!! I wonder if she will start making covers for consoles like Nintendo Super Nintendo Atari, and Intellivision? /2? I can NOT stress how important it is to keep the elements like air and light off your retro vintage equipment as it uses a plastic that yellows. ALSO it acts as a really good splash shield, though not fully waterproof it will shild any spills or sprays and can be gently hand washed after. Pic attached. Simply the best get them here:

Check it out folks! you can get these hot stylish perfect covers here: https://www.ebay.com/str/sewready?_trksid=p2047675.l2563

I highly recommend and rate them!

Subject: An Amiga 1000 in a Vantaa's school, Finland, 1987

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Was reading this paper Computer Courses in Finnish Schools 1980-1995 about computers education in Finnish schools in the 80s and early 90s, and the paper mentions both the Commodore 64 and the VIC-20 computers along with a picture of the first, BUT if you look closely to the same picture, there is an Amiga 1000 released two years earlier, not even mentioned at all!

Here is the figure 1

Subject: A1000 CIA Audio Filter Hack?

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Saw an older thread where u/stalkythefish mentions an A1000 hack that enables CIA audio filter toggling like the other models. Did search aminet but only found a permanent hack to bypass the filter.

Anyone have info about or a link to the CIA hack?

Subject: Amiga review in Compute! magazine, 1985

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

I just stumbled upon a nice review from about the time the Amiga was first released. It sounds really good, e.g.: "[...] The Amiga is not a me-too clone, or a cautious step sideways, or an incremental step forward. It's a genuine leap to a new generation of advanced personal computers. The Amiga will be the yardstick by which all other new computers over the next few years will be measured. [...]"
