Subject: A2000 repair for subscriber P1 Worlds longest lasting non leaking GP battery!
I randomly browsed eBay and saw that a1200s were going upwards of £150. has something happened in the landscape? i have two 1200s and a few c64s(which seem to be hovering around the more expected £30)
needless to say I bounced one of my 1200s ASAP

Subject: So, I just got my hands on a G4 Mac Mini & installed MorphOS...now what?
I've been playing around with it most of the evening but...damn if it isn't different to everything I know about Windows, Linux and Mac. I do have (very) limited experience with Workbench via FS-UAE but I have next to no experience on actual hardware.
In my poking around I've managed to get DataStore 2.0 running (have a small, personal database I want to build & Base or Access is just about 1000% overkill) & I'm impressed with that.
What I haven't managed to do, however, was get AmiNet Radio working properly (attempted install through Grunch failed with not being able to find it at all so had to download the file from http://morphos-storage.net).
Also tried to play Lemmings from a .adf which loaded but in a glitched-out fashion & crashed the system. Not something you can do from MorphOS? I know certain software & games require certain hardware & software 'things' that are not present in MorphOS/a G4 Mac but unsure which or what I'm looking out for.
It's...certainly a learning curve!

I'm interested in buying an A600 mainly for music production but I'm not too familiar with amiga hardware and so I wonder, is there something particularly limiting about this system compared to something like the A1200 when creating music? Any added difficulty hooking up external devices or such?

Subject: DiagROM - What EPROM chip do I need for the Amiga 500
So I have acquired an Amiga 500 (REV 6A) which gives just a green screen. I ordered some replacement RAM chips (MN41C4246), but I'm the meantime I wanted to try out the DiagROM. I have an EPROM programmer (and UV eraser, etc). But unless I'm missing it on the page I'm not seeing which style EPROM I need to use. Thanks

I played a game in college, in 1986-1987, that I can't remember the name of. It looks a *lot* like Gravity Force, from what I can tell by searching Youtube. However, Gravity Force was released in 1989, by an actual publisher, Kingsoft. The game I played was shareware. (Maybe it started out as shareware in 86/87, and then Kingsoft acquired the rights and published it a couple years later?)
There was a text file that told you where you could mail a check, if you wanted to pay. I sent the check, and it was never cashed. So, I asked about it on Usenet, and I remember that someone contacted me, and said that the author of the game was a teenager, and he had committed suicide. I didn't inquire any further.
Now, over 30 years later, it's popped into my head again; I'm not sure why.
The game was absolutely brilliant, and I was (and am) blown away that it was written by a teenager. If you're used to programming on modern operating systems with a variety of SDKs and libraries available, you have no concept of what it was like to program in the late 80s, particularly on a niche piece of hardware like the Amiga.
I'm convinced that I played it before 1989, because I remember playing it in the original dorm room I was assigned to, which I had-- you guessed it-- in the 86/87 school year. I am 100% certain it was shareware (I don't even recall if that name existed then, but you could play it for free, but were asked/encouraged to mail the author some amount of money), so it can't be the same game/version published by Kingsoft. But the gameplay looks nearly identical. It was single player, and you had a vaguely triangle shaped spaceship, and all you had were thrusters, turning, and shooting out little dots that were missiles or lasers or whatever.
I remember a wide variety of backgrounds, whereas all the screenshots and videos I can find of Gravity Force seem to have the same color scheme and look. I think there was one level where the background was psychedelic.
If anyone knows anything more about this story, I'd really like to learn more. I realize it's a long shot, but if anyone knows the reason he took his life, I'd like to know-- I mean, not enough to bug his family or anything, but if someone on reddit knows what happened, I'd like to know if he was bullied, or if he had trouble coming out, or if he suffered from major depression, or whatever. I guess this probably reads as if I'm being ghoulish or insensitive, but I assure you it's quite the opposite: the only two times in my life when I've learned of the suicide of someone I know, I've sobbed uncontrollably. It's not morbid curiosity; it's more like I want some closure.
Thanks in advance for humoring this one-in-a-thousand chance of learning anything.

Subject: 1992 was an outstanding year for computer games. Both Wolfenstein 3D and Ultima Underworld were cited as pioneer 1st person action in a real time environment. Which one of them launched the genre of real-time 3D first person, and what other outstanding games were released in 1992? Let's review!
Subject: The A500 Mini. We have seen games but do you think it's suitable for productivity ?
There is lots of talk about games and rightly so as it's the predominant selling point for many buyers, especially those who have not 'used' and AMIGA for many years. However, (like you) I'm a bit crazy and I will use my pretend AMIGA 1200 set up (winuae) for fun and work that is not necessarily games related. So think stuff like Deluxe paint III, Protracker, Wordworth and Final Calc - From what you have seen on the A500 mini do you think this would work well on that if I can get the software in LHA? I guess if we get or can use a version of WB we are good right? Do you think there will be a way we can add internet connectivity? Maybe with through the USB using a Pi and wireless card with some software mods? I'm excited to see what clever people do with it.
