Subject: AMiNIMiga release party - A Workbench Distribution for the A500 mini
![]() | Hi everyone, I'm here on behalf of Jimmy Johansson at the "The A500 Mini/Maxi Users Facebook group" ( https://www.facebook.com/groups/571357397366882 ), to spread the word about the release of his Workbench Distribution for TheA500 Mini. I hope it's okay to post this here. Jimmy Johansson (A500 Mini/Maxi Users Discord server) (The A500 Mini/Maxi Users Facebook group) writes: It's confirmed I will be having a small release party for my Workbench Dist for the A500Mini, which I'll have somewhat decided to call AMiNIMiga. This will happen on discord, and I will be available for a few hours to get everyone interested set it up correctly (even if it is very easy now). The party starts tomorrow, Saturday 23rd April 21:00 GMT+2! LET'S HAVE FUN. We can share screengrabs, experiences, discuss demos, mods, games for a few hours. A bit like the good old party days, BUT on discord :) The discord channel will be available at all times after this, for support and error reporting in AMiNIMiga. For those that have missed it, AMiNIMiga is a Workbench 3.9 Distribution I've been working on since the day I got my A500Mini, it is a pre setup AmigaOS installation with loads of Applications, thousand of mods, some Demos, quite many games. Some Examples: Early preview: https://youtu.be/R77p3HKL1f8 My latest startup cfg: https://youtu.be/gOCuWSs0avQ And for those who worry about (C)opyright, the kickstart roms included are the ones you bought with your A500Mini, so you have rightfully paid for those. And for Doom and Duke Nukem shareware WADs are included. I've started the Discord server, feel free to join already and chat in realtime with other A500 Mini users, it's a spinoff of The A500 Mini/Maxi Users facebook group, and have a channel dedicated to AMiNIMiga and its release! See you tomorrow, Saturday 23rd April 21:00 GMT+2! [link] [comments] |

Subject: Watching CF East 2022 Live stream (Amiga Chips)
I recently scratched my itch for gaming on an Amiga and I'm running a 500 with Gotek on a CRT. The novelty of loading games via floppy has now worn off and I'm looking to sell my 500.
My first thoughts were to opt for a 1200 with CF and WHDLoad games but I'm wondering for a similar sort of cost would I be better opting for a Mister and using Minimig instead ? I just want to play games on CRT, I'm interested in people's opinions.

Subject: Mounted a "preloaded" Atari ST hdd image and noticed the label for the trashcan... stay classy Atari ST team. :D
There are two things that very few if any computers have that the Amiga had. The first was a device interruptive Multi-Tasking OS. I don't completely understand this one except that it did stuff at the same time and better than others because it didn't wait.
The second was REXX for Amiga or AREXX. Any program that had AREXX could talk(hook) to any other program via the REXX scripting language.
This meant your database could talk to your video system all without it needing to be from 1 company. Cross software compatibility.
Did you ever use AREXX and if so for what?

Like the title says. I'm going to buy a white ReAmiga 500 bare board. Sadly my poor eyesight means soldering all the components on the board is no longer feasible for me. So I'm looking for a fully populated board, with sockets.
If you do this kind of work message me. I'm planning on buying the board in may and already have an Obese 2MB Agnus.
I also have a REV5 board to trade/Part Donate.
Whichever is better.
Or if you can supply parts, I'm listening.

Subject: Best Amiga games with Female playable characters?
Just picked up an Amiga 500 Mini because I’ve always had interest in this computer since I was a kid back in the very early 2000s.
Wondering what the best games with female leads or main playable characters are in your opinion? (Also if there’s a hidden gem without a female character that I just HAVE to try out, lemme know too!)
And yes, I’ll obviously be playing games without female lead characters, I just wanna know some of the best to check out!
(Also I know it may be inevitable someone asking if it’s “that big a deal if the game doesn’t have a female”, and no it isn’t a game killer for me, but it’s nice to have some representation in games sometimes, especially back when female playable characters were kinda rare)

Subject: Revenge of the Mutant Camels is a horizontally scrolling shooter written by Jeff Minter for the Commodore 64. Enhanced versions for the Atari ST, Amiga, and IBM PC were released in 1992 as shareware.
I'm thinking of sticking my Raspberry Pi in a C64 shell (or A600/A1200, if an when they come out)
For anyone that's done that, how comfortable is it to type on the old Amigas or C64s? I'm pretty use to Logitech slim line keyboards these days and iirc the old A600 (and C64) where pretty tall.
Is either shell viable for long text input? Or is it wrist pain city?
