Subject: A500+ with Kipper2k + CF + Dual roms - black screen

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Greetings all,

Having some trouble with modded A500+. It has kipper2k with a 68020, dual ROMs and CF card. Was working just fine about 3m ago before being stored.

It shows a black screen on boot, both through monitor cable to 1084s or via composite / A520.

Nothing happens on screen when booted, no snaps or flickers. Power lights are on.

After 10 min, Denise, CPU and L CIA are both warm-ish. R CIA is barely warm and Gary is cold. Caps lock key works.

Feeling as if a TAC2 was plugged into port while machine was on but can't really remember. Could this have any bearing on troubleshooting?

Have swapped CIAs, but no difference in the warmth of the chips when left running. I've got a multimeter & intermediate soldering skills. Also have a spare A500 non-plus that works just in case of parts required.

Thanks

Subject: RPi Powered Amiga

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Hello,

I have a non-functional Amiga 500 and thought it might be nice to chuck a Raspberry Pi inside of it to get it "Working" again.

Does anyone have a step by step guide on how I would / could connect up the Keyboard so that I could use the original case / keyboard for this project?

Subject: Your best rogue-like on Amiga?

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

I only got into rogue likes (Nethack, Angband, UnReal world, ADOM, Ragnarok etc) a long time after getting out of the Amiga.

Getting back into the Amiga now, I wonder what the best rogue like was / is on the system? I was pleased to see ADOM was ported - are there any other notable titles? Any modern adaptations?

Subject: Games that should have been, but weren't

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

It's nice to see things like Sonic, Doom and Diablo making their way to Amiga, if only for the technical achievement of getting it done.

One game I feel that "should have been but wasn't" is Super Hero League of Hoboken, released in 1993. I feel like this one was almost bespoke for Amiga

Are there any others like this that were on the cusp you feel we missed out on?

Subject: Question about the Amiga Hugo Tv show.

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

So basically here in Portugal the Hugo Tv show we had in RTP back in the late 90's (state tv) added music in some stages... Nintendo and Squaresoft music lol.

Some stages like this one shown in the YT link had Donkey Kong Country music, the Labyrinth one had Final Fantasy VI battle theme remixed, and the balloon stage had Tetris Game boy Type-B music and ofc, Nintendo or anyone else who owned the rights ever knew anything about it.

My question is, did the Amiga itself handle and play the music? Was it made using any type of default or special music software for it (judging by how the music sounds)?
